The way we play has changed massively between this year and last, if you can't see that you don't know enough about football. Brooks succeeds in this team just like he did last year pre glandular fever consistently one of our best players at a very young age.

He could play the duffy role, the sharp role very well.

It’s a pointless conversation really as we have no way of knowing how good Brooks would have been if he’d stayed. Equally had he done so what the make up of the team would have looked like without the money we got for him.
He’s done well at Bournemouth and we’ve done well without him, sounds a win win for all parties to me.

Dowell is offering more to the team than Brooks did last season, granted, but to say Dowell is a far better player when Brooks is tearing it up in the PL is laughable.

I've already seen articles suggesting he could be their replacement for Gylfi. Cost the Blues £45mil and hasn't performed, so any chance of us getting Dowell might be rapidly vanishing. Best to enjoy him while he's here methinks.

Good point - although I believe for the first time that season we changed formation from 3412 to 352 - we moved bash into the centre of midfield.

Whilst we will give them the utmost respect, we are more in a position to dictate what we are going to do rather than other way round.

Highly thought of enough that they didn't let him come to us at the start of the season.

Maybe on a similar level to Holgate.

But Dowell plays a more demanding position, so they could be willing to let him go. But not cheaply.

Can see Everton changing manager though, in which case the reset button is hit and it's anybody's guess.

I read CW like this - he wants the issue with McC and the Prince sorted and I believe they are back in court May time this year?

Both of them are noticeable by their absence in saying/writing anything - just allowing CW to get on with it.

The ownership needs resolving one way or another - lets hope we are in the Prem which might just knock some sense into the whole problem.

You're right Scooter, in Prem terms that's barely enough for the type of Prem players we might be interested in. Maybe we look at the best Championship players, at least those who might adapt to the Prem, but Wilder would need a minimum £50-60mil if he were to pursue permanent Prem signings........or failing all that, we could look at loans?

Remember last time we went up when we could pinch players like Hulse off Leeds for £2m?

Now you've got Leeds demanding and getting £15m+ for Chris Wood from Burnley (good player though he is). Or maybe for a better direct comparison, PNE getting up to £10m for Jordan Hugill!

Completely different ball game. I'd love us to snap up the best of the Championship but it's no longer realistic.

£30m would seem like a lot to us now but it would be about the equivalent of our budget back then - which wasn't enough!

I could see us using the loan market very well if we got promoted.

I think we'd stick to the 'British and Irish only please' policy - which I wouldn't mind to be fair, initially.

I can also see Wilder trying to sign Madine regardless.
