My piggy supporting friend claims the team that will finish 2nd are not even in the play offs yet.

Anyone want to guess who he's hinting at being the team to finish 2nd?

Surely they’re not that thick. Not any of them.

They might just about finish top half with a very good run. No chance of play offs and as for automatics...

The only realistic team that could be is Aston Villa due to their "6 pointer" upcoming games.

They still have to play

  • WBA
  • Birmingham
  • Derby
  • Boro
  • Bristol C
  • Leeds
  • Norwich

That also looks good for us if they can beat Leeds/WBA and Norwich, whilst dropping points at Derby, Birmingham and Bristol. Please.

I've done one of those score predictor things and it ends as follows

Norwich
Leeds
---------
Blades
Boro
Derby
West Brom
------------=
Birmingham
Bristol C
Forest

Don't fancy WBA over 2 legs in the Semi's. Its a no from me.

pretty much what I thought. I tried to be scientific and "blind" to the blades thing. It's all bullshit though so don't worry

I don't fancy anyone in the play offs, we'll defend to keep it tight, totally out of character, and lose

for example I got 2 results right tonight, we can all rest easy

Bristol city won 9 in a row now, and only 2 points behind us having played same games. Be surprised if they finish out of play offs tbh.

As said above string a few wins together & back in the mix , still plenty of points to play for & a lot teams still in contention.. let’s win ours and let the others work the permutations out

Great run by Bristol City, but their next 4 after the Cup game are Norwich A;Brum H;Preston A;Leeds H...so could start to drop points amongst those.

Bristol City are just behind us, so perhaps he was looking at a table from a few weeks ago

Loads more to happen yet and nothing will be won or lost in the next month.

There will be twists and turns and ups and downs for every team.

I've been saying since before Christmas that if we're still in contention in contention on St Patrick's day then it's ours to lose.

By then we will have all our "hardest" fixtures out of the way and a reasonable looking run in on paper, although they do say that nothing is won on paper and there are no easy games.

Up until that day, que sera sera

Posted in another thread.

Probably more appropriate here.

If bristol city keep getting gift penalties 6 minutes into added time they will be a threat. No wonder they are in a good run

A couple of big games next Saturday that could shape the automatic promotion chase. We have West Brom who also have a midweek game against QPR and Norwich entertain Bristol City at home. Leeds take on Bolton which I can't see anything other than a Leeds victory.

It looks to me like their are only 7 teams left that can go up automatically. Derby in 7th with 2 games in hand are still in it Forest would need to win all their remaining games to collect enough points (circa 85/86 I think)

Of those 7 teams, Bristol City have a really tough run in, ours also looks difficult with a lot of top 1/2 teams still to play

Norwich look in the box seat with the easiest run and currently top of the league.

Given this league, any one of the top 7 could still win it though

Villa have been my outside bet for making the top 6 all along. Not team has a divine right to go up, but you'll know what I mean when I say Villa ought to be challenging, given their resource and how much they've spent. They're a bit of an enigma still though, they haven't found their formation or their starting 11 of choice. When they click, they fly at times and can attack as well as anyone in the division.

Then the rest of the time, they very much look like a side that have Mings at centre half and Whelan at centre mid...

I don't know why but somethingbtells me that Norwich will still have a wobble. I think it's because:

  1. I hope they do, their manager is a dick.
  2. They cannot continue the knack of late results forever.
  3. They're due a wobble.
  4. They don't actually possess many leaders, how will they fair under pressure?
  5. While in form, I don't see people like Pukki as natural goalscorers, I think he's on more of a purple patch.

I hated watching pukki versus Bolton. He is no flash in the pan. ice cold deadly with great feet and movement. Bastard. With their fixtures they are going to be very hard to catch.
