"Now, I think we'll go up automatically"

I tend to agree with you op, after the disappointment fades away I think the players will be more determined to not let that happen again, & at the same time know that when we play like that no-one in the league can live with us. I think Chris will be telling them to remember how they felt at the final whistle & use it to fire them up.

This morning at work has been "interesting" to say the least as I am surrounded by Villa fans! I have kept saying that this could be a season defining result, I'm just not sure if we will look back and say this was the game that pushed us to promotion or out of the top six.

After the game, I was in a queue to get on my train back to Cannock and despite my clear disappointment, bewilderment, anger etc, a group of Villa lads in front of me on seeing my Blades scarf, said to a man that we'd been the best team to visit Villa Park this season and that we'd go up automatic.
They were all full of praise for the team, the style of our play and the support from Sheffield. Not one of them thought they deserved anything from the game.

Despite that pleasing analysis, they still gave me some grief when I got on the train with them as they, and most of the people in the carriage for that matter, gave me a rousing rendition of "Three nil, and yer fucked it up etc" while I stood there and took it with a laugh, eventually joining in with them !!
All good lads, no aggro and a few handshakes and warm wishes when they left the train at Walsall. Despite the result, it's still fuckin great supporting our club.

Christ, I bet the two pigs must be sqealing with delight after their massive 0-0 victory against the galacticos of Reading.

Funnily enough they’ve been quiet about that. Think Friday was the highlight of their season.

To be fair one of them is sound, whereas you can see it’s clearly killing the other one inside.

Can't wait for Boro our players will be pumped and ready to put things right.
We also have another weapon in Hogan who must be chomping at the bit to show what a danger he can be.

Nothing but admiration for anyone who can look at that debacle and turn it into a positive, I mean that sincerely.

But I honestly think we're more likely to miss the play-offs than make the autos. The squad just isn't good enough - hell, a small amount of our second string was able to turn a 3-0 victory into a draw in just 10 minutes the other night, not to mention the psychological effects.

Agree we’re in with a real shout. We won’t make those types of mistakes again. But we will play like that again. If we play like that for the rest of the season, we go up. Simple.

I don't really know how we will react on Wednesday , I think we will be out of the blocks and at them from the start, it's how we react "if" the goal doesn't come, ordinarily I would obviously be disappointed but fully expecting us to win, we will have a better understanding of the effect of the villa game at full time on Wednesday, not sure at the moment .

It's nice to see the cloud of anger and depression lift after just a few days.

One poster suggested that Friday's result would cause the club to sink to it's knee's for a decade, that all hope was lost, and that we'd return to Division 1 in no time at all. It was hysteria on a grand scale, and showed that we have our very own section of fans who cannot resist the impulse to scream and shout because, well, just because. They don't need a reason for this hysteria, just give 'em half a chance and they'll do their very best impersonation of S6 mania.

Reading many of Friday's posts it was akin to reading Porktalk in it's refusal to accept that we had any chance of promotion. Give it 3-4 games, and then we'll have a better idea about our ability to respond to Friday's result. Any team watching our performance on Friday will know that they'll face a team capable of some of the best football this division can produce. Of course the downside is that we occasionally show our fallibility, so I'm hoping that the shock-waves will have gone through the ranks to let them know that we can't afford a similar slip-up again.

NO!!!!!! GO AWAY. I am still scweeming and stamping my little feet, and I will do until Wilder apologises for making me very very upset.

90 points for promotion?

35 points from next 15 games:
12 wins, 3 defeats;
Or 11 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats;
Or 10 wins, 5 draws and 0 defeats.

Automatic isn’t impossible, but we probably need to be winning 11 or 12 of our remaining 15 games. There’s certainly no room for slip-ups. Remain optimistic, but play-offs seems more likely.

Home matches are key. Get those as bankers for the rest of the season and repeats of the performance against Villa will ensure we have a healthy haul away from home. That level of performance would have put paid to most teams. Others will not benefit from such multiple errors.

We had the game won three horrendous .mistakes later and we draw.
That was a freak result to be punished for each mistake is rare in itself as normally all mistakes even bad ones don't always lead to goals.
I'm sure the team will Take it on the chin and be more determined than ever.
Hendo looked a sorry site at the end, this will make him a better keeper

he's still on a learning curve and no where near the finished article.
Bring on the Boro !!!

Our performance reinforced my belief we are one of the top 4 teams this season .
We are still improving and bedding in several new players. The inter changes at times were similar to an on song man city.
We treat each game on it's own on the day and start afresh going for the win . We have a chance of top 2 and an outstanding chance of the play offs. Still want to see us win a play off final more than go up automatic , just to slay that dragon

In my view February was always a tough month, playing Villa away, Boro at home and West Brom away. Yes, there's been easier games v Reading and Bolton, but still a tough month. After that, we've only got Leeds away as the standout tough game and the rest of the harder games are all at home. If we can get 7 points from the rest of this month I'll be happy, but its a tough call.

Sorry, it on main channel, I'm none the wiser.

Yes, it is on a main channel so you'll be able to watch through the Sky Sports app :) (not Main Event; Sky Sports Action is the channel)

I work in an office with Man United, Man City and a single Chelsea fan - so the heat hasn't been on me this morning thankfully.

You work in the same office as two football clubs? Fucking hell it must get noisy, crowded, mucky and sweaty in there...

Just read this today. It’s genuinely uplifting to know that there is life beyond Bladey Inferiority Complex and the Shoutbox Jellybabies.

Perspective. Well done Fulwood Blade. Great stuff. We were fantastic for the vast majority of the game. We have a team to be proud of and it’s absolutely right to say so.

Tufty dealt with it superbly as well. Shouldn’t have taken Dowell and Madine off though... :)

❤️⚔️

It's fucking brilliant that we're alive in this period of belief in the Blades.

Not too mention lose at home to Barnet
