My top 3 matches of the season where I’ve been negatively affected are
In 3rd place: Home to Stoke, we needed to win to gaursntee going top. Surpringly we really dominated a very poor and defensive Stoke side. It was obvious we were going to win but in the last 5 to 10 minutes Stoke finally showed some attacking intent and we looked nervous in the final minutes, deep into injury Stoke equalised with a free-kick with our keeper at fault.
We should have easily won, played well but threw away 2 points.
In 2nd place. Away to Rohterhsm. Our worse performance of the season, we turned up like big time Charlie’s and were outbattled all over the pitch with our keeper keeping us in the game, We scored a very late 2nd goal totally against the run of play and it looked like we were about to pinch a lucky 2-1 win and 3 points. But a total comedy of errors last minute goal gave Rotherham their deserved equaliser. Felt furious after the match because we only need to see the game out, totally unprofessional and threw away 2 points.
In 1st place. Last nights game. Another game where a win would send us top of the league and heap loads of pressure on our rivals.
We were very impressive for 82 minutes against a very poor Villa team that never looked like scoring. I thought to myself “surely not even United can fck this up being 3-0 up with 10 minutes left”. When they pulled a goal back and just kept thinking about them equalising in the final seconds and as though I’ve got special powers it happened just as I thought.
We always seem to find different ways how to lose points, another 2 points thrown away in the last seconds.
The positives is that we looked superb for most of the match, no other team can live with us. We play nice atttacitve attacking football, have strength in depth, remember Duffy and Hogan didn’t play last night. But the biggest positive for me is that there’s plenty of time to make amends and win the league.
