Gotta say this season our transfer dealings have been nothing short of sensational.

In past seasons we’ve seen Chris sign even unknowns or unfancied players and turn them into world beaters with a few less impressive signings that have been dealt with and moved on.

This season we’ve signed quality players at this level with potential of going higher.

Egan, Henderson, Norwood, Dowell (loan) and even Mcgoldrick which everyone agreed was quality but doubts only about fitness and injury record.

Only blips were Woodburn (not our fault he didn’t meet his hype) and possibly Washington although he’s a handy squad player.

If we get Hogan in then it just caps off for me what is probably the best window I’ve seen in a long time in terms of pure quality.

Also with players like JOC, Billy, Fleck, Enda, Baldock , Duffs, Bash doing the business all of a sudden I look at the team we have and I’m not the slightest bit surprised we are where we are.

Promotion is a very real possibility with that squad.

Last January signings were garbage, lets hope these aren't..

I think we should probably let the January signings play for a few games before deciding whether they're quality or not.

Well I don’t think their quality is in doubt as each of them have made an impact at this level...

Dowell for forest
Madine for Bolton and Cardiff
Hogan for Brentford

I suppose you could question if they’ll be quality for US but I don’t think you can question the quality of any of the jan signings.

Hrmm!! Anyone in particular missing from that list???

Yeah but none had really done anything at this level and no exciting names at all.

This Jan you can see the reasoning behind and see that they are quality signings.

Be amazing to land Hogan he is pure class and been very unlucky at villa

None of them would get anywhere near the Wednesday team, though, and I’d still rather be in Bolton’s position.

:)

I could certainly question whether 2 of those are living on past glories but my point was we can only judge if they're quality or not after they've played some games for us.

Johnson was a 'quality' signing.

Very unlucky in injuries? Not quite sure that works. Not sure he's gonna be that great for us.

When we were told it was only loans I knew we'd have a better chance of signing quality players. I wasn't sure it would totally materialise but the ones we've signed are if anything a better bunch than I thought we'd end up with.

Dowell - in my view the best Duffy alternative we could've got and quite a predictable signing.
Hogan - another quality player, the only surprise being Villa letting him go to a rival. We were always going to go for him given the chance.
Madine - shocking in one sense, but not in another, as Wilder has clearly always rated him. Good player and possibly the best target man we could get.

What's surprising is that we don't appear to have missed out on any first choice targets. If we have it's likely because they simply haven't been available.

Hate to adopt a cautious approach, but so much joy has been lavished on Hogan signing for the Blades that I'm prone to be a tad cautious until he's played one or two games. It certainly shows ambition on the club's behalf, and if he's got half the quality many seem to think he's capable of producing then we'll have a great addition to our attacking options.

Let's be patient fellow Blades, Hogan's had little game time this season so let's not expect too much, but of course I'd love him to hit the ground running and make the sort of impact that keeps everyone on their toes. Lots to look forward to and well done Wilder for pulling this off. UTMB!

is hogan loan to buy av i missed sumat anyone no

Assume that’s impossible as Villa would expect most of their 10 million back.

If Hogan returns to the form he showed in his final season at Brentford then in today’s market he’s at least a 15 million pound player.
He’s been out injured for ages and looked underwhelming every time he’s put in a Villa shirt, but many suspect it might have been Bruce’s negative tactics holding him back. Anyway it would be difficult to place a fair valuation on him now because no one knows what they are getting. He’s at the right age, a local-ish lad and will be so keen to get his career back on track.

Just read about Hogan on Wikipedia and his record isn’t the greatest.
He’s had 1 fantastic season at Brentford and 1 great season at Rochdale.
Villa took a gamble paying well over the odds and it looks like that gamble failed.

At his career best possibly a 10 million player in today’s crazy market, not a 15 million player.
But I’d say a fair price for him now is no more than 5 million.

As already said due to injuries his career has never really got going yet, so he’ll be very hungry with plenty still to prove,
just the type of player Wilder likes.
