Don't really understand the problem. Not heard Gage, who may well be better but I'd rather listen to Keith than some of the twats on Sky etc.

Yes, he can bang on about the early ball a bit, but he's looking at it from a strikers point of view. He was totally right today late in the first half when JOC didn't cross it first time as it dropped on his left foot.

Strikers want those balls played about 7 yards out first time, as that is a nightmare for defenders/goalies.

JOC cut back and gave it to Stevens.

He may talk bollocks, but for all the great times he gave us in the 80s I’ll forgive him all that. BUT the other guy who was commentating today used the expression “Lever Arched” about 5 times when describing O’Connell and Egan outjumping their opponent. What’s that all about? As far as I’m aware a lever arch is a kind of file.

It's a kind of foul

talks some right bollocks

So we go away to one of the form teams in the league and get a point. We are comfortably in the top 6. There are a million things you could talk about but you chose this? Really?

He only provides analyses of the forwards, usually in terms of their positioning and the crossing. That is my main issue with him. Now you can follow commentary with ifollow, it's ok. But as for radio commentary, you have no sense of the performance of most of the team. I remember a game, where Paul Coutts was announced MotM and realised Edwards had not mentioned his name once in the entite game.

I think he’s ok as summariser but he has given us the commentators curse so many time. I’ve lost count him saying that we’re controlling the game and he can’t see the opposition ever scoring. 2 minutes later we’re 1-0 down!

I think Edwards is a good commentator.
Unlike John Pearson he isn’t afraid to be negative and critical when required.
Edwards just says it as it is, which is a good thing.

Agree though that he’s fallen foul of the commentators curse so much that he actually jokes about it.
The number of times he’s said we are in total control and theres no way the opposition will score, then seconds later they score.

He goes on about the crosses coming in early from a strikers point of view. You point where you want it and make your run, if it doesn't come in you are then redundant and probably offside so have to start again
Nobody is saying get the cross in immediately every time, but there are times when we mess about trying to manufacture a better position when there was nothing wrong with the position we were in in the first place.

There will always be times when delaying the cross will work and there will always be times when an early cross works, the decision making is where we sometimes falter

That’s fine, but it’s not what Edwards says. He’s a gobshite who hasn’t a fucking clue. No wonder football never gave him a thought in coaching or management.

Noise and Nonsense. Sack him.

He says it as he thinks it is. Two very different things. It was his nonsense that annoyed Alan Knill when the useless new RS numpty repeated it.

Noise and Nonsense from a self-satisfied idiot.

I like him in theory but I do tell him to shut up a bit, partly because he never shuts up about crosses, and partly because he's constantly tempting fate. I appreciate his stories though in the boring games, though they are few nowadays thankfully.

Kevin Gage is very good though too, and has a more modern insight into the game, being more of a fan of football as we play it currently.

I can take Keith's rants though because he's got a good rapport with the senior commentator bloke that did today's game, whereas when I hear Gage he tends to be with some younger bloke who gets everybody's name wrong and doesn't know how to describe anything quickly enough to adequately illustrate what's going on.

Tells it how it is based on his knowledge of the game, which is much more up to date than he is given credit for. In any case has forgotten more about this sport than anyone on here could ever begin to know.

And on a personal note, I spotted him in Graves Park a few years back walking his dog, just as we were on the verge of promotion from Lg1. I plucked up the courage to say hello and got talking to him for a minute or two about all things Blades. He was a total gent, really pleasant and a good old laugh with the kids as well.

Leave him be ffs.

Edwards calls it like a lot of us would simply because he's emotionally attached. He isn't neutral, he's a Blade and he wants us to always do better ans succeed. He's a ton better than that cunt Pearson for the pork scum.

Edwards sums up the difference between us and the pigs. KE is a bit of a curmudgeon, always expecting the worst. Pearson is a big-gobbed cunt who thinks Wednesday are Real Madrid.

What a strange attitude you have towards his football career. I can understand your criticisms of his RS co-commentary (though I think you're wrong). Like many strikers he was never given the opportunity of playing in the top flight when he was at his peak. I don't think anyone can say with any guarantee that he would've been either a success or a failure.

Lower league.

His lack of opportunity was not some cosmic mystery. It was the considered decision of professional managers across the land. It is your suggestion that is strange, I’m afraid, in the face of such a simple explanation.

Is his failure to find any work whatsoever in coaching or management a result of my strange attitude? No, the explanation is just as plain and simple,

He’s an idiot. Don’t take it from me. Listen to Tufty and Alan Knill’s response to Edward’s noise and nonsense in successive interviews. They’re still available.

Meh to Keith. He does alright as far as commentators go.

As a general point, whenever you watch other sports you realise how thoroughly superficial most football commentary is. Just watch a Sky match and take count of how many times a commentator says something about the tactics that you haven't noticed for yourself. Then watch any other sport and listen to how much insight you get into the players and the strategy of the teams.

Lower league.

Are we in the lower leagues at the moment?

Edwards made 145 appearances for us at the level at which we currently find ourselves. The second division. He scored 68 goals in those appearances and that was in struggling sides.

He also made 93 appearances for Leeds United and Hull City (combined) at this level, scoring 35 goals.

So he made a total of 238 second tier appearances and scored 103 times. A strike rate of 43.27%.

Hardly a lower league journeyman.

The most infuriating thing about Edwards is his refusal to learn the names of seemingly any opposition player.

A bit like Billy Sharp. Do his goals count for less than Harry Kane's or Eden Hazard's because they're doing it at the top level? No. Because Billy isn't surrounded by world-class players.
