Is that what they call it SB?...I always thought it was called Dronfield Park...Did it get a name change at some point?

Will ask my uncle at a funeral this afternoon. Have always known the place as Cliffe Park since the 1970s. The other big park in Dronfield is Sindelfingen park.

Asked my uncle a few hours ago. He used to call it Dronfield park but for a long time he calls it Cliffe park. He cannot remember when he started calling it Cliffe park. Most people now living in Dronfield call it Cliffe park

When I lived in Dronfield my kids called it Spliff Park for some reason .
Yeah,i'veBrother in Law has just told me it's nickname was Splff Park

Cheers SB..My Brother in Law just told me the same thing...it's the same with those woods....someone was telling me about Frith wood in Dronfield...i said it's Firth not Frith, but turns out i was wrong again.

TC lived in Dronfield at the time - up towards the Common and Ted might have too. He certainly has strong links to the town having had the bookies at the White Swan for decades. No idea about the third though. Len Badger and Geoff Salmons had connections, but it doesn't look like them to me.
TC moved to Ashford Road when it was built. His son was best mates with my brother and my mum taught his daughter in infants. He moved back to Dronfield and still talked to my mum when he saw her about. Loads of footballers and managers lived there over the years. A lot spent a lot of time in the Miners on Carr Lane during the 90s, when they weren't barred!

Was told Howard Kendall was barred by three pubs in Dronfield!

A mate of mine's dad ran the Miner's in those days. His lad is now deputy chairman of the County Council.

That will have been Roy. He was a great landlord and Blade. He would bar people for not a lot. We tried to get him to ban Sterland and Varadi in 92 because they they sat on their Leeds shirts just after the Leicester game when they played for Leeds but he wouldn't. Did tell us he had banned Kendall, Heath and the other one, who were also banned from Hearts of Oak supposedly.

Reckon I might know you sheebridge. Is Roy's lad genuinely in a senior position within the council?! I used to clean and wash cars in the car park on Saturday afternoons and did his son's car out, it was fucking vile, full of tab ends and ash.
Roy Jacksons' missus was called Janet and the landlord of the Hearts of Oak (just up the road) at the time was called Don King (not a bloke to fuck about with) - so we had Don King and Janet Jackson within 500 yards of each other...truly Halcyon days of the semi-retired Hollywood elite.

After having had the photo blown up this morning, I now can confirm that the boy wearing the keeper jersey is me. I was Dronfield's keeper in the SUSC u12s 6 a side tournament at Retford a month earlier. What I had spotted this morning were the black trims on my jersey which I had forgotten about but remembered this morning

I knew the lad who lived in the house in the picture at that time...he was a West Ham fan,but i heard he eventually turned into a Wendy fan not long after.
