I see our reserves lost 3-0 at home to the might of Burton Albion.

The "reserves" in question being a bunch of kids barely out of primary school. If that is our attitude to reserve games, I really can't see the point of running a reserve team. Surely the kids get enough match practice in the Academy games.

To be fair Darren, we barely have a first team at the moment due to injuries, so we're not going to be putting the main squad in there are we?

Fair point, but even when we do have a fair complement of fit players, we still field chabbies.

Darren - during the closed season (or off season according to Giddens et al on Radio Sheff) SUFC announced something about there not being an U18 or U19 Academy (cant remember which) league this season so they intended to blood the youngsters as reserves.
Theres probably something still on OS somewhere but cant be bothered to search - sorry!.

I guess one could argue that playing the youngsters, even against the likes Burton reserves, gives them experience against "the bigger boys". The question is, does it do them good to compete against older players or will it erode their confidence as they get stuffed all the time. In my experience, albeit in an individual sport, playing against better players made me strive to match them, which ultimately I did, but maybe that was down to my ultra-competitive, never-say-die spirit.;)

Darren you cannot criticise the club in this random, unprovoked manner.

If you believe what you read on here we are the best organised, best run club in the country with a brilliant business plan and a car park in Budapest.

Disagree, rational criticism is always welcomed.

Sand in your vagina?

Well hopefully a few gems can be picked out amongst our youngsters.

Although if they are losing to Burton Albion then I doubt we have any at the moment.

Mind you even if we do have some more stars in the making we wont be seeing much football from them at the lane.

Peschisolodo's All Stars (Res) are due to play Sheffield Club at the Coach & Horses soon - be interesting to compare scores.

Just out of interest does anybody know he average age of this reserve side as compared to that of the Arsenal side who put six past our finest?
