It's a p r stunt. The new manager at S6 has grabbed the headlines recently. With this controversial loan we have CW has grabbed them back.

Footballers are momos. Outside of ours who have been working in McDonald's, up some scaffold, or thinking about packing it in to work on an oil rig 6 months on 6 months off etc, or people like Bill who've gone through tragedy and come out the other side and used the pain to make the world a better place through charity and using his spare time to teach kids football you'd struggle to find one that's worth looking up to.

I bet we've got some rascals too not including Madine, just before they were famous enough for anyone to give a shit.

You probably shouldn't be trying to teach morality at football games.

If you are though, just because we have one questionable player don't let it affect your children getting down to the lane. He won't play forever, and while he does whilever he's not getting in trouble use him as a cautionary tale and a story of redemption and forgiveness from the people he hurt.

He's actually got a lot more to his game than just sticking his head on the ball. Pig mates say that they never used him as a target man. Obviously Bolton did. This vid is quite useful, shows a variation of goals.

Bet nobody told him what they thought of him signing to his face either did they?

A bloke from my work is one of those really annoying Wednesday fans, you know the type, and even he said that Madine is, in his words, the best finisher he’s seen at S6.

Like you say mate, he’s got so much more to his game than just being a target man.

Since this (at the time) rumour was first posted I've gone from:

  • Haha, as if that will ever happen. Whoever posted this is nuts
  • Oh shit. Surely not?
  • I'm raging!
  • Disbelief
  • Maybe I can live with this
  • Actually, this is so batshit crazy it could actually work!
Similarly, in the space of a few days I've gone from recommending posts calling him a tosser and hope we never sign him, to liking posts where people are saying he deserves a chance and hope he does well.

It's all very confusing.. but fuck it, I'll say it; if he starts banging them in. He'll do for me.

Gary’s got a really long and wonky neck. I’m surprised nobody has noticed this before. Unless they have, I’m not rereading 100+ pages of flouncery just to see. :D

Think someone said we signed a giraffe and "I didn't realise 2 foot of his 6'4" was neck" so it's not gone unnoticed haha

I am warming to this signing.

I have listened to Chris Wilder and I trust his judgement.

No use crying over spilt milk.

HH

Whereas I'm not, mate. I'm struggling with this one. I know what you mean though.

In Wilder we trust, what we have now is the best period I've ever known as a Blade, it's pinch yourself stuff. The way we play, the sense the manager speaks, a Blade for a manager, a Blade for a captain, the way we're taking on the big guns and the moneybags and upsetting the status quo. I absolutely love it. Every time Wilder speaks, I'm so grateful that he's our manager that he talks a lot of sense, and with the utmost honesty.

But this one, this decision, just really, really doesn't sit well with me. I'm pessimistic as fuck about it. This is the first decision I've really doubted Wilder on. Everything about Madine goes against everything we've been looking to build here. Wilder may have done his homework, consulted with the squad, but this is by far and away his biggest gamble yet. It may be one of desperation, or we can't afford owt else - but what he has built here is sacred, the best United from top to bottom in many Fans' living memory and nowt should unsettle that, let alone something preventable or of our own doing. We have a squad that is flying and is unanimous in its support of one another, devoid of big egos, built on hard work, and avoidant of frankly...having tossers in the side. Nothing should disrupt that. Week in, week out the squaf have to be at it and punching above our weight to stand any chance of competing and going up, as we don't have the finances to just throw money at it.

This decision, the Madine one, could fuck things up royally and if it does, the club, us as fans, we're the ones that stand to suffer. A bad egg in camp could derail promotion. Wilder may have done his homework but
any fuck up now may by the summer mean bye bye Fleck, Jack O'Connell, Henderson and any assets we have left now. It could even mean bye bye Wilder, his achievements won't be going unnoticed. Any fuck up now could risk everything we've built.

Put simply, I'll hate to be able to say "I told you so" but if I do get that opportunity, the ramifications of us fucking up are huge.

And that's as reasoned as I can be without mattbianco1 pulling up his definition of melodramatic again :D our season is finely poised and we have to have everything go our way to go up, United can't do big spending and United simply don't do 'being lucky'.

There's no use crying over spilt milk, but we can avoid shitting on our own doorstep and bring chaos to our own door.

I was more like:

  • Going all CSI on that man in pub picture
  • Disbelief

  • Reading all the shite on here and actually starting to feel sorry for the bastard
  • Actively hoping it's a success and trying to get people to give him a chance.

Let's look at it thus
We all wanted a 5 or 6m pound forward
Cardiff paid 6m for Madine
We've got a 6m prem player on loan

Norwich got a 9m pound ex owl player on loan
Helped them hasn't it

Gary Madine
I just don’t think you understand
He’s gonna score a brace
Then punch you in the face
We’ve got Gary Madine

Well done tufty great signing!

Thank you for your infrequent but invaluable contribution to the forum and in particular another Madine thread. We look forward to further examples of rhythmic japery in the future. :p

I'd be amazed if anybody other than Warnock would have payed £6 million for Madine, oh how we laughed

So you actually think wilder didn’t start billy at start of season due to egos? Wow have some of our lot gone stark raving mad! If I was wilder sat reading some of his shit I would say fuck em!

What planet are you living on if you don't think personal relationships don't come into a managers selection? Was clearly a brilliant decision by wilder not to start Duffy and sharp in first two games and both kicked off publicly about it if you were listening.

No, he doesn't, he scores very few and creates even less.

Record for Cardiff - 0 Goals, 1 missed penalty, 4 missed open goals, very few shots on target, wins fewer than half his aerial battles, an assist every 7 and a half games.

1. He's a total dreg of society. Not the kind of guy you want your kids to look up to.
2. He's a poor footballer.

Not at all what we are looking for.
Discount Cardiff it didn’t happen for him there
He did well at Wednesday, Bolton and Carlisle scored one in four proper hold up forward and target man.
As far as the bollocks he got into it was in his early twenties if you ain’t got no fire in your belly then you never will have Friday/ Saturday down town when I was a young un was fight night.

1 thing we've all completely missed in all this. It's alright throwing his fists about, but what's his kidney punching like?

Looks like a tall piggy Billy Sharp with less goals to me.....
