Rhodes is a miles better goalscorer. We have one or 2 of those.

Madine is the better footballer of the two, he has a range of skills that Rhodes simply doesn’t have.

Fuck skills.

Give me the miles better goalscorer every time.

He hasn’t even got ‘skills’ better than Rhodes, Rhodes is beyond doubt a better footballer.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Eric is most certainly on a wind up today, there’s no other answer.

Madine has only ever done well in long ball,
hoof it teams. How do you feel he would fit into our passing style of play? Considering he doesn’t score goals, how do you feel he will help us when McGoldrick and Clarke are going through a dry spell?
McGoldrick wasn’t exactly prolific before he came here.

Purely on their playing attributes, Madine would be a better signing for us right now than Rhodes. Rhodes is basically Billy Sharp with a poorer recent record.

Jordan Rhodes goals apart is a bad player. That’s why he’s flopped everywhere where he doesn’t have 2 good wingers and a decent targetman to play off.

He’s as good as done at this level and it’s hilarious that Wednesday spunked 14mil on him.

Not just Madine, Nearly every championship striker is a better footballer than Jordan Rhodes is. Goalscorer? Fair enough. But he hasn’t got any skill apart from that and a side like us can’t afford to play with 10 men.

Thank you.

As I’ve said, Rhodes is nothing without 2 good wingers and a targetman to play off. Funnily enough he would actually make a good partnership WITH Madine ala Gestede but that isn’t what I was asked

But Rhodes already is prolific so just imagine how many he would score in our team.

I think he would flourish under a manager like Wilder.
He hasn’t been a prolific scorer for 3 years. Funnily enough Gary Madine scored more in half a season last season than Rhodes has in 2.

Rhodes day is done. He’s not ‘gone’ but teams simply don’t play the way they did 4/5 years ago and he hasn’t got the knowhow or ability to adapt like Billy has. Needs more to his game that’s why he’s second fiddle at Norwich.

He’s more Adam Le Fondre than Billy Sharp.

You do realise that finishing is a skill in and of itself?

Timing, awareness, positioning, anticipation etc.

You can never have enough goalscorers in your squad. Worth their weight in gold.

Jordan Rhodes record speaks for itself. He only really nosedived when he went to that crock of shit over the road. Everyone was struggling playing for them. He can’t get in the Norwich side currently due to their striker scoring for fun but he comes on late in games to help them get results, and guess when Norwich have been picking up results? It might be a coincidence but I think he has more than his fair share of uses.

His career nosedived when he went to Boro. Wednesday was the move after and he failed there too.

Rhodes has scored what 5 goals this season? Half what Madine got by this stage last year.

Let’s not pretend this is the Jordan Rhodes of 4 years ago.

Karanka was the manager at Boro then and didn’t everyone say he was too defensive?

Rhodes has started just 9 games for Norwich since he’s been there, not too bad when you look at some of the stats.

Rhodes has always been the better striker. I know there’s a few on here who can’t grasp why some of the fans don’t want Madine, but that’s seriously deluded.

No he wasn’t but his style of play fits how we play. Madine’s doesn’t, unless we change our style

Just give the lad a chance!

Maybe after you have you can come back and say I told you so - if you wish

‘Last year’ being the important aspect of that sentence. In a team that fully played to his strengths...

I don’t wish, I’d love it if I’m wrong but isn’t having an opinion what this forum is about?

As I say, we’re a passing team. Madine has previously played best when in a team who employs tactics completely opposite to this. Therefore I can’t see how he fits our style unless we’re going to change it and I sincerely hope we aren’t.

Why don’t you become our manager since you know more than Chris about who will and wouldn’t suit us?

Why would we change our style having just won 3 games in a week?

Goodness gracious me. In terms of goalscoring they’re incomparable over their full careers obviously - however as footballers? Rhodes isn’t fit to lace 90% the championship strikers boots technically, he’s about as strong as a glass of water and as good a header of the ball as Nyron.

He is a 6 yard player in every sense of the word.

What next, Megson as Director of Football and Lee Stafford as new Chairman?
I 'liked' this but feel I have to justify that; at the start of the thread I thought, 'wtf could top this for pissing Blades off?'
Only the sacking of Wilder and appointing Megson.

It's strange because Rhodes' and Sharp's careers are strikingly similar.

Both started out at Championship clubs but were soon loaned out to League Two teams.

Sharp - Blades > Rushden & Diamonds
Rhodes - Ipswich > Brentford

Sharp made his name scoring for fun in League One and got promoted with Scunthorpe. He then carried it on in the Championship with Doncaster.

Rhodes did exactly the same with Huddersfield in League One and then with Blackburn in the Championship.

Sharp then got his big January move to a team on their way to the Premier League with Southampton. Exact same thing happened with Rhodes and Boro.

Opportunities were limited for both of them in the top division and they were restricted to a few substitute appearances.

Rhodes is now the same age as Sharp was when he had to drop back down to the Championship. He was unsettled and low on confidence and ended up floundering at Reading and Forest. Rhodes has done exactly the same with Wednesday and Norwich.

Rhodes just needs the right move to the right club to work with a manager who can get the best out of him. Like Sharp did with his return to us.

As footballers, one hasn’t proved to do his job better than the other over their respective careers. Case closed.

That’s an excellent comparison I’d never thought of. I will watch Rhodes’ next move with interest.
