Anyone else slightly concerned that a 6 million pound 30k a week striker (irrespective of what our contribution is) isn't coming to play a fèw 10 minute cameos when we need a late goal, or some height in our own box?

Therefore if he plays more regularly are we going to have a tendency to upset the balance or hit it long too often?

I’ve been trying to say this for the last 3 days, Dav.

Someone is yet to give me a valid claim why this would be a good move. All I keep getting is Wilder this and Wilder that. Atleast some are saying why it won’t be a good move and coming out with explanations.

Once said, I sign strikers to score goals not to marry my Daughter, bang on. Billy Whitehurst had a colourful history and we didn’t moan about that.

If Wilder wants to sign Madine, Ched or whoever, I’m on board.

Can’t wait to see Madine banging em in.

Absolutely - and even if Madine doesn't become a prolific goal scorer, and i'll pick 8-10 goals between now and end of season as a figure, it may provide Billy Sharp with the opportunity to get 30 again.

CW's reason to sign Madine may be to take the weight off Billy to enable more of the goals like he scored against Wigan.

There is some constructive intent from some though and that’s where you have to separate the posts and respect those more, if you want to that is? Obviously I’ve probably underestimated the ability to debate on here.

See your second paragraph is nothing more than hyperbole bollocks and I expect better from you. If we are in a pond where we are bringing players in like Madine then we are more likely to fall before we rise because we already have an ageing strike force as it is without bringing shit, overrated by our own fans loans in.

How some are making Madine out to all of a sudden be a good player is a remarkable turn around on here from years gone by. I wonder if it is because we are on about signing him? ........let me think!

You are a bag of contradictions wiz. You want debate then you go all in with “hyperbole bollocks”. Happy to debate it but it really is as simple as we all know fuck all compared to the bloke that will be bringing him in. Wilder has so much goodwill with us that it really is a pointless discussion. When did he last sign a dud and we end up stuck with them? Even his less impressive signings like Lee Evans scored some quality goals before we shipped them on.

Do I like Madine? No but I bow to the experience of those who actually know what they are doing rather than listen to the sockets and stumps on here whose knees jerk at every loss and visibly throw teddies out the pram every time we concede a goal. You know who they are. Some examples in recent times?

2 games into this season we apparently didn’t trust Wilder because the back half of last season was so shit.

Our defence was shit after a 3-0 beating at Boro.

Leon Clarke was a shit pig and (repeatedly even now) has a bad attitude and is past it.

Billy is over the hill and we need to replace him NOW.

Fleck is shit because he hasn’t played so well for 3-4 games.

McGoldrick is shit and can’t score goals.

Now Madine is a Shit Twat. Yet Cardiff parted with 6m for him only 12 months ago.

All gold from this very forum in recent times.

I must say, I sort of like the idea of Madine being employed solely to help Billy Sharp score goals.

I do see how a player of his type could be useful in a few games but I just don't see how under the circumstances he will come and be a bit part player.

In that regard is he worth the baggage for someone of limited ability with a poor scoring record at this level.

I know Wilder has done a terrific job and some get upset that anyone dare question him, but the bloke isn't infallible and Madine causing unrest has the potential for greater issues than finishing outside the top 6 alone.

Like I've said a few times, we hope it's ultimately a masterstroke with Madine showing a new found maturity and performing on the pitch.

It's just not a given, with the fallout worse than it would be with A N Other.

Interesting to see upon reflection how many times CW does get it right
As I added on that post, with a failure rate of 40% be glad he’s our manager and not a heart surgeon.... or pilot

Fair point in itself but how many of those failures were we lumped with like under previous managers. And what about how he gets the most out of the players he was left with? And how many are loans that do not do unrepairable damage to the club.

Remember Robson anyone?

Vinnie jones is a good example actually ,most United fans never wanted him ,were glad to see the back of him and never took to him when he was here

Vinnie was very helpful and generous with the young apprentices during his United career, also did quite a bit for charity in the area, not that it was ever discussed at the time

My dad tells the tale of Jones and his Missus visiting fans who were queing for tickets early one morning.

Dont get me wrong i liked him ,i was 16 and he was a big star
Most unitedites I knew couldn't stand him and it became apparent that a lot of the players thought he took far too much credit for that great escape when it was their goals and their efforts that did it and not his long throws and stupid fouls

I’m not one of those who slags players off straight away or even continuously if I do give them stick. I didn’t rate Basham at all and have come on here on more than one occasion to give my praise to him, that’s just one example. I’d also prefer us to stick with Leon over Madine everyday of the week. I’ve given Wilder criticism and slated him for one or two things but I’ve also praised him. Football is all about not being able to stick to one side and see the other side of the coin or debate in this instance, I just don’t see an ounce of good to come out of this move, that’s all.

Good point regards we don’t end up getting stuck with dud players and that’s a big plus point of Wilders but I’m merely stating Wilder makes a lot of mistakes like anyone so everything is open for discussion, perhaps it’s best if we leave this discussion because it’s going no where though?

I’ve been trying to get my head around why we need him?. A few things worry me?.
(1). Lack of goals— he’s not scored a goal in nearly 12 months?. Clearly the prolific striker we badly need!!.
(2). Game time— he’s only made 18 appearances for a struggling Cardiff side. Warnock clearly realising he’s not that good!!.
(3). He’s reportedly on a wage of forty grand a week at Cardiff!!!. Since when have we started paying that kind of money?. I know he’d be on loan so we’d only have to pay a part of his wages. He’d have to take a huge pay cut to join us permanently.
I could name more issues regarding his love for billy and sufc as a whole!!!.
I’m struggling to find a positive for this proposed move.
Can anyone come up with a positive?.
I trust wilder 100% but this has left me bewildered. UTB

His best bits were going in goal before the game and messing about in the warm up. I honestly struggle for a positive footballing memory.

Did he score for us? Villa away? When we’d not scored for about nine hours and everyone went nuts? If that was him I’ll give him that but I wasn’t there so I stand by my original comment.

At Spuds that season, walloped 4 - 0, Steve Sedgley went over as though Jones had hit him like Clay, Cooper, any other famous boxer.
Trainer came on. Him and Sedgley, who was propped on his elbows sunbathing style, watched as the ref had words with Jones and sent him off.
Both these fookers then got up, sponge didn't even get an airing. Cheatin' twats.

Wiz, this wasn’t ever aimed at you. I wasn’t responding to one of your posts in the first instance. If our front 4 options are McG, Billy, Leon and washing machine, I will not be unhappy.
