I apologise if this looks another thread on Madine or Wilder, but its a new theory I've not previously read, so deserves a thread of its own.

Wilder realised the full benefit of a wound up or angry Bramall Lane crowd in the match against Derby and again against Blackburn.

So he thought long and hard how to maintain the atmosphere and carry it on to the end of the season.

Thats why he's signing Mr Madine.

Pure genius.

:-)

Maybe it's been put out there to gauge fan reaction.

Bit like the Pigs did with Warnock.

Even get a picture of someone in a cap looking vaguely like him sat with Wilder in a pub near the M1.

Yeh but not against our own player.

We were saying the same.
If the atmosphere is a bit flat and the team need a lift then Wilder brings on Madine as the sacrificial lamb. In fact he doesn’t even need to play GM as sub, just ask him to run up and down the touchline warming up. Always prefer Bramall Lane when it’s hostile.

Of course Madine brings something we don’t have in the squad. He would instantly be the best header of the ball and best physical presence amongst our strikers. He provides a different option and we might finally look dangerous from our numerous corners.

You could say that Madine would be the special tool (how appropriate) in Wilders tactical tool box.

Tell you what, let's make the fans even more wound up and angry by charging them 60 quid to get in and banning beer. Another masterstroke!

At this moment in time, still NOTHING on O.S. bbc, or Sky Sports that this signing has actually happened.

Chris has often gone for hungry players with a point to prove, it certainly looks the case with Madine. All the clubs to choose and he picks the most hostile and difficult one. Trust CW & AK, if he's not right, he'll be out of the door, like Leonard and Evans

Maybe all those Madine thing about him being a cunt is just a exaggeration and Wider thinks he can mould him into our style and help us win promotion, just a thousand though

If Madine does sign then he starts with a clean slate for me.
He will offer us something totally different from what we have already.
His best goal scoring seasons have been at S6 & Bolton where he averaged 1 in 4.
Now based on those figures there are 20 games left so if he got to that level of scoring he would get 5 for us.What if those 5 resulted in extra points, like someone has mentioned Ipswich turning 1 point into 3.
Also I don't know what type of Football the S6 mob or Bolton played in that time, but i would be amazed if they created as many chances has we do, So there is every chance he could even better that average.
I do hope Chris reads him the riot act before signing him though.
But if he does sign then we should trust Chris and support him, i am not saying go out and buy shirts with his name on or make a song up about him, just please don't anyone boo him that could completely ruin our season, look at the bigger picture.

Maybe he can play for Barcelona one day.....you know, just to offer them something different, I'm amazed that they've never thought of this. Ripping up the Barcelona coaching manual for the last 10 minutes of a game that isn't going to plan

Ed , who are you saying is the genius, Wilder for coming up with the idea or you for working it all out ?

Once a player puts on the famous red and white shirt, I simply don’t give a monkeys who he’s played for in the past. But signing Madine has made me feel a little bit flat. Considering our current league position, I thought we might be shopping at a better supermarket.

Regrettably mate …… our two "committed and ambitious" owners swinging handbags at each other instead of focussing on taking the Club forward has buggered that possibility. :eek:o_O

We should indeed be "pushing on" and cementing a solid play-off place with some shrewd business in the transfer market ……. instead, Tufty is having to "pull rabbits from the hat" with his hands tied and a bottom 6 budget ……. again !!

Oh well ….. its the Blades way

Barcelona, don’t need a plan B or plan C
They buy the worlds highest quality players capable of playing their tried and tested plan A.
The problem is those players cost 50 million plus.
History shows It’s impossible to play Barcelona style football on a budget and be successful playing that style.

I suppose the question could be would you accept not being promoted under Wilder if we continued to play the nice passing game? Personally I’m enjoying watching us so much that promotion isn’t essential and would be a bonus but think I’m in the minority.

Nice try mate, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, fuck it, before it flies away.

;)

Maybe Wilder is signing a player he thinks can help with a promotion push and who will fit in with the squad, all after extensive planning?

Crazy idea I know.
Maybe with Warnock stepping down at the end of the season Wilder fancies the job and wants Madine off cardiffs books

Bit like S6

100% right UTB

They both played utter hoofball shite.....so theres a clue as to what our new plan b is.

Theres a video doing the rounds of Wilder's post match interview from the Bolton game last year as to what he thought of their style. So he's either changed his mind on that or he's got something else up his sleeve. One thing for sure is, he wont be starting games if we're continuing the same style.

During last years Cardiff match, Warnock sent Madine to warm up and he did - right in front of H Block. It unsettled the crowd, in fact H Block went apoplectic. I can't remember if he came on or not but I do remember Cardiff equalising at the death. Warnock then went out and worked the crowd and made our lot look like a bunch of cry babies with the reaction he got. So yeah, agree with you on that and maybe Wilder's decided to take a leaf out of Warnock's book, love it when you can wind the oppo fans up and get an advantage.

Not sure they have ever had to contend with that.

Putting Coutts on the subs bench V Aston Villa was a masterstroke by Wilder, he was not match fit and never likely to start but it got the crowd up for it.

Every little helps.

Madine though.
