How is raising his poor transfer record in the January window a lack of respect?
It’s something I’m sure Wilder, who appears to be no shrinking violet, would agree with.
Agree, questioning his transfers is valid and not a lack of respect. It’s normal, every manager (even Alex Ferguson) has a list of great signings and a list of poor signings which didn’t work.
The lack of respect is telling Wilder and his team of professional experts who have studied tactical formations, 1000’s of replays of our strengths and weakness, decided which areas need strengthening, done due diligence regards character references, spoke to the assistant manager at Bolton (who is a close friend of CW) about Madines personality in the changing room etc etc.
Then after he’s made a decision which he feels will help us gain promotion, our fans tell CW he’s making a big mistake as he’s a bad influence, poor scorer and he’s crap, only good at hoofball.
In the 2nd half of the season by some quirk we seem to be playing top half teams AWAY and bottom half teams at HOME.
It’s not likely that we’ll see many more visiting teams like Derby and Blackburn who were open and positive playing attacking football. Instead we’ll see more games like Birmingham which ended 0-0, they sat back defended in numbers and although it was constant attacking we hardly created a chance because we couldn’t find any space.
If we fail to gain promotion this season I reckon CW might blame the fans for not supporting his judgement.
It’s the not supporting the manager (especially as he generally has a excellent transfer record) that’s disrespectful.
All Wilders targets in the past are brought in for a specific clear reason, some are upgrades, some are understudies, some are for future development and others are for different tactical options. Madine is the latter, he would instantly be the best header and most physical striker at the club, making us much more of a threat from our numerous corners, crosses and freekicks. Don’t think he’ll play much but he’s a useful tool to have in the toolbox for special occasions.
