We have a habit of signing players with a penchant for porridge .

Take away him as a person and just leave the footballing side and I don’t think he is the key to us winning promotion. I don’t see that as the big picture because I don’t rate him as a player. I think he’s shit! He did very little for Cardiff last year, he had zero impact on their promotion.

This is the thing that I can’t understand. Whenever Madine has been used as that kind of player he has been really poor scoring hardly any goals. His only two spells of scoring regularly were when he was one of the first names on the team sheet and played 90 mins every week.

If he’s coming in to occasionally play the last fifteen minutes then his stats show he’s likely to do exactly what he did for Cardiff last year performing the same role which was nothing.

Your points appear valid but here is the explanation that Chris Wilder would probably give.

Every player has strengths and weakness. You say Madine is shit but at our club he would instantly be the best header amongst all our strikers. He would also be the best physical presence amongst any of our strikers and would also possibly win more freekicks.

He had zero impact at Cardiff because he was a replica of what they already have. He was simply back up to cover injuries.

At SU it’s a totally different situation to Cardiff. Here he would be totally different to any other striker we have. A totally different tactical option that we don’t currently possess.

Madine might have a poor scoring record and he might not score many at SU but that’s irrelevant.
The team is more important than any individual. If Madine creates havoc and wins loads of headers setting up Sharp and it helps the team win matches then Madine has done his job, doesn’t matter if he never scores if the team keep winning.

Wilder has proved that you should never judge a player on past performances at their previous club.
CW has this knack of designing tactics to bring out the strengths of a player and not involving their weaknesses.
So players regularly look and play better than their normal accepted standard.

The bed wetters you are talking about don't seem to be concerned with how well Wilder can get him playing though do they.
It's not that they don't trust Wilder to get him playing, they just don't want the bellend playing in our shirt.

He won’t be the first bell end to play for the club and he won’t be the last! He isn’t paid to be popular he’s paid to play football, if it doesn’t work out feel free to have a go! Put the pitchforks away and see how it pans out.

Call it an educated guess based on a number of factors.

It's funny that no one here is backing you up your 100% accurate point of view.

Unless this just supports your view that you = well-connected football genius and everyone else = poorly-connected football numbskulls. In which case, it says a fair bit about you and we should probably give up here.

It astonishes me that a man of self proclaimed intelligence and stature, is completely unable to conduct a remotely civil virtual conversation with anyone who doesn't agree with him implicitly.

It's 100% his way or you're a Bladey buffoon.

Can only be a WUM. I certainly hope so for his sake.

If like it looks like we sign that Kunt then that’s me done for this season don't want to see him in the red and white of Sheff Utd as a person he’s a full weight wanker and as a professional footballer doesn’t set the right example to the young lads, no doubting the gaffer knows what he’s doing but morally I won’t watch the kunt play so looking forward to next season already without Madine

Well that's two gone cos I'm not going again, piss poor signing if true.

Is part of his contract that we rename the club Madine FC and only field him?

Support the rest of the players if you don't like Madine. He comes in he probably gets at most 2 or 3 starts barring injuries and will probably only appear from the bench occasionally.

More quality is definitely a key point.

That's a polite way of saying, he's a bit dog shit and no better than what we've got.

He's not better, but he is different to what we've got and maybe that's the whole point. Playing for Bolton against us he showed what he can do in terms of physically roughing up a defence.

We don't have that at the moment and when all else fails it isn't such a bad idea to see if they ' don't like it up em '.

(and he's still an utter prick, I hope Leon knocks him aht).

I'm not Sheffield United or Gary Madine's moral arbiter; neither is anybody else on here. He's paid his dues to society, so he's fully entittled to play for any club that employs him. I'm in support of the signings the club and management want to make. The management have earned my/our trust have they not? Those who'd bring their negativity regarding a signing to poison the atmosphere and derail us, would be deserving of contempt. That said, this signing doesn't seem to be the height of pragmatism.

Song for Madine; to the tune by the Beatles:

We love you yeah yeah yeah
We love you yeah yeah yeah
With looks like that
We know you can’t bad

:)
Dolly Parton

Madine, Madine, Madine, Madine
I’m begging on you please
Don’t come to t’ Lane.

And people say she’s just a pair of tits

Not too sure what to make of this signing. Master shithousery. Decent target man. If not the best out of the premier. There's the positives. Massive bellend (allegedly) likes a beer and ex pig. Doubt this would've been sanctioned without a meeting with the captain and vice captain. If they're happy. I'm happy. For those in uproar. Flick your mind back to when Clarke was first announced.

Always liked Clarke, always scored against us in the past, didn't set fire to cars as far as I know, didn't go round (mob handed) in bars, picking on other lads, breaking noses, jaws and cheekbones, putting lads in hospital.

I don't give a shit that Madine played for Wednesday, so did Quinn, Geary, Bromby, great players for us, to me this lad is as welcome as Marlon King, and for the reasons I have listed above.

Madine openly had a dig at Billy Sharp a couple of seasons back.

And he did the same thing with Ched Evans in the 2011-12 season by making sarcastic comments to the media.

He's always come across as a player who makes no secret of the fact he doesn't like us so I don't know why he'd want to come here.
So add that to his several assault convictions or arrests and he's an off the pitch nightmare.

On the pitch I can see he offers something a bit different but not the magic goals, unless Wilder/Knill has spotted something he can add that no one else has thought through

Just to lighten the mood a little, my wife just told me a story about a pig fan she went to school with, when Madine played for Wednesday he named his first born son 'Madine'.

Imagine how much of a dick he feels right now!

We’re in urgent need of a quality striker so we sign this cunt who’s last goal was 20th January last year???.
What a fucking phenomenal scoring record he’s got!!!.
I’m just thankful we managed to beat all the premiership teams for his services!!.
I’m trusting wilder 100% over this but can’t fathom this one?. UTB

"Mr Beresford said Madine, who joined the Owls from Carlisle United and is originally from Gateshead, had been staring at him in the bar and, when he had asked why, the player lashed out."

Now don't get me wrong, Madine is clearly a man with anger management issues and I'd want to be no-where near him on a night out, however, I read this and do wonder the exact events. Mr Beresford may have asked the question above in a very reasonable way but I've been in enough boozers/clubs and heard the "what you fucking looking at ?" line enough time to know what comes next. Perhaps Gary just decided to act first .

Just saying like ;)
