Solid, reliable and consistent with experience.
Doesn’t seem to do a great deal, nothing fancy and tends to look comfortable as though he’s cruising (probably a good sign).

He’s more of a defensive fullback tho than an attacking wing back
So didn’t quite suit our style as much as our others fullbacks who are better going forward.
Good luck to him though, he’s always done a job when needed.
 
Does this leave us looking for a replacement back-up? Does Marvin Johnson 's deal expire this month or was it season long?
 
Was an excellent signing for us, will be an excellent signing for them.

He's got his place in our history too, as part of that team, the scorer of the 100 point goal and that thundercracker at Rochdale.

Him leaving will mean Johnson is staying.

The question could be where does Bryan fit in? Is he backup for LCB or LWB, which may answer your question.

I was led to believe he played centre back for Oldham on loan but is an excellent passer of the ball, so it all depends where CW sees him fitting in for us.

Interesting one, nowhere near the first team it would seem 3rd choice LWB as Johnson is head of him.

Said it a number of times I thought he was the cover for O'Connell, I know we have numbers at the back but are any of them left footed and attack minded enough to step in should JOC pick up an injury or a ban?

Believe he’s cover/competition for JOC at LCB primarily but can also play LWB and CM

thanks - it would be nice to actually SEE him - all the rumours suggest he is a very good player, and the last one we got from Man City wasn't that bad either. :)

We should be permanently camped on City's doorstep for players they discard - we are ideally placed to take advantage.

And he’s already played for Middlesbrough this season, so is subject to the rule that you can only play for two clubs in one season (though be registered for 3) – were he recalled he could only play for Boro, he couldn’t be loaned/sold elsewhere. I think this might be a factor as to why Woodburn is still with us, as Liverpool’s decision to play him for their U23s would mean he’s already played for 2 teams in official competitive games as per FIFA’s rules. It’s the same reason I think that Tammy Abraham will stay with Villa.

Abraham has only played for Villa this season though and surly Wolves wont be spending 20m for someone they cant play yet.

He’s played in Chelsea U23s I believe. There’s precedent for those being considered official games, which saw Hatem Ben Arfa not being able to be registered for Nice in Jan 2015. Unless the rules have changed since then I assume this is still the case, and certainly this point was made in the press re: the Abraham rumour.

He has played for Chelsea's Under 23s too apparently.

FWIW that seems like a daft rule, limiting young players from going out on loan and getting experience because they've turned out for your youth team... Exactly as LoughboroBlade says with Woodburn, he's essentially going to lose a whole season of possible first-team experience because it hasn't worked out for him here.

From what I’ve seen he looks good, gets around the pitch and loves a tackle which is a good sign for someone who’s struggled with injury issues

Think Abraham issue is that he played in Community Shield for Chelsea, although a player has done it before (Diarra I think) and then played for two other clubs in a season (Arsenal and Pompey?)

Agreed, seems particularly ridiculous as the transfer window has put a great emphasis on the loan market too. It’s more likely that players will have already played for two teams before the January window opens, and the whole point on allowing players to feature in U23 games for their parent club while out on loan is so they can aid their development.

So when it was looking like it wasn’t working, why did Liverpool play him in their u23s? They didn’t have to.

It’s more competitive than U23s games and as I say, there’s precedent after Diarra did the same a few years back. But there was a bit of confusion about whether the Community Shield ‘counted’ or not

Chelsea don't want to sell Abraham apparently, maybe its just posturing according to SSN
