That Ipswich game....

Point doesn’t look so bad now does it? Seem to remember a semi-meltdown after that game in that we weren’t good enough for the play offs etc etc but 7 points from our Christmas fixtures so far is an excellent return. Especially as we have taken 3 points off a play off rival.

A win at Wigan on New Year’s Day sets us up perfectly for the second half of the season in which we have some difficult places to go. IF we have a successful January in terms of transfer dealings then things may just get interesting.

I for one am looking forward to it and if we can keep the Lane as hostile as it has been the last couple of games we have every chance. I’m sure Wilder will give it a real good go and for the time being we should enjoy the ride.

Not so much as a “not good enough for the play offs” it was more a case of missing out on them if we continue not to put games to bed. We wiped the floor with them first half and went in 1-0 down at half time. Stop letting teams off the hook in the way we do and we will be fine
 
I was expecting 6 maybe 7 points of festive period but that was ipswich 3pts derby 0/1pt Blackburn 3pts. So no harm no foul. But derby dug us out of big hole

but we weren’t shit most of first half against West Brom, we were pretty good. There have been times when we have been shit but not that many.

I think we don’t win as many as we fans think we should because our expectations when we play well get raised making us think we should win, but we don’t score enough when we play well, so we don’t win, not because we play shit.

I’m not happy with that but I don’t think it means we are shit
 
We need to be averaging 2 points per game to guarantee promotion. Ipswich was 2 dropped points without a doubt.

Not sure if you are about 14 years old, and this is your first season following United but if you think this is shit. Prepare yourself for utter misery the rest of your life.

Simply put this is the best we have played for 40 years. Truly truly awesome to watch this compared to the last 4 decades.

I think some United fans were not only writing us off for autos, but for a top 6 finish and stating that we are over achieving (ffs). It is just frustration and impatience when it doesn't go to plan, some Blades let their rational thoughts go out of the window, it is the same but in a positive spin, as the Wednesday fans that talk about getting to the autos after getting 7 out of the last 9 points.
 
We should have been out of sight by the time WBA actually scored their first.

Yes they bossed the second half, but we should have been at least three up

Really don't understand this comment. Since we gave Ipswich a goal that caused us to drop 2 points, Ipswich have played 2 more games losing both, haven't scored and have conceded 5 goals our result looks much worse now than it did immediately after it!

The best football is winning football. Always has been, always will be.

That's kind of how the sport works.
 
Before Ipswich I felt 7 points from our next 3 was needed and would get us back on track. I was thinking wins from Ipswich and Blackburn and a draw with Derby though.
 
Drawing at bottom of the league Ipswich wasn't a good result, whichever way you look at it. It's not a disaster, but it's not good either.

However, our performances over the season have generally been good, with a few poor performances and a few excellent ones as well.
Our results have also been good, and we've won plenty of games, which is why we're 4th in the league. No idea how one can justify saying we've played 'shit for a lot of the season'.

The point is that our points return over Christmas isn’t as bad as people expected it to be after that result. We’ve also turned over a promotion rival just days later and soundly beaten another side at home. It may have been a bad result at Ipswich but in the grand scheme of things I think all of us would have taken 7 points from a possible 9 with the game against Derby being the one where we dropped points.

Of course it’s dissapointing not have won that game but we’ve made up for it with 2 good victories since. Think when I look at other games where we’ve thrown away points there have been more frustrating ones than the Ipswich game.
