Looks like he had plenty of offers from other clubs chasing his services including joining Steven Gerrard at Glasgow Rangers.

Here’s a comment from a Rangers fan on their forum regards Dowell.

‘Have you seen Kieran Dowell play? I have seen him play on 6 occasions live and on tv a handful of times. He would walk into our team in the 10 role and would be a star in our league”.

I see Everton have included similar financial penalty clauses to Liverpool if Dowell doesn't play

When you have loads of interest then Everton can call the shots.

They desperately want him to play matches, all these clubs showing interest tell Everton that they intend to play him and have big plans. So although Everton can’t force any club to play their player they can include financial penalties if their player doesn’t get games.

Wilder explained that if won’t be forced to play Woodburn and tbe club will pay the fines.
Looks like it’s the same deal with Dowell, makes sense really when a player is in such demand.

I dont know enough about him but people keep saying it's Duffy's position that is under threat, I understand he is an attacking midfielder so fair enough, but mcgoldrick is supposed to be a striker but you see him play most of the time in an advanced midfield role so isn't it feasible to see him and Duffy together?

Edit: left an unfinished comment in about Woodburn, started typing, couldn't be arsed to finish it - he's off anyway haha

looks like a very young Sean Bean....

It's Jimmy Muir!

POTENTIALLY a very good signing.............

..........so was Woodburn a POTENTIALLY good signing who came with a higher pedigree than Dowell, yet it didn't work out.

Looking forward to seeing his debut as part of the squad v Wigan on Tuesday, but we need to see whether Dowell can fit it with how we play games.

Hope it comes off - now, can we get in what is really really needed - a centre forward to play with Billy.

So would you drop McG? Personally I think he's been one of our better players.

I think what he offers us is a chance to rotate and rest mcg and duffman they are both doing well to be playing so many minutes but hopefully can optimise their performances by using them a bit more sparingly and also tactically adjusting things against packed defences by playing two number 10's as oppose to an extra striker

Myself and derfblade deserve some credit on this one. I suggested putting a sausage on his head, derf did the business. Putting a sausage on a players head always secures their signing as has been shown in the past. Never fails!

A work colleague who is an Everton fan said - "Who? Dowell???"

Have we done the first deal of the window here?

Some Everton's fans tweets sorry if someone's already put these up , but sounds promising !!

1) Good luck @kierandowell1@SUFC_tweets getting a major prospect who’ll rip it up in the Championship

2) Think this is for the best. Not getting enough first team football right now unfortunately. Sheffield United have themselves a quality player for a few months!

and my personal favourite =

-3) Good move for Dowell that. Big club and will be a regular starter

Seems from Shield’s piece the Woodburn loan termination is all but announced.

Though that said, what Wilder said in his update today might contradict that story, as he specifically says in answer to whether anyone will be leaving that none will be, other than fringe players that will be sent out on loan. He also clarified:
  • We enquired about Dowell in the summer when Brooks left, but they weren’t willing to loan him then
  • We’re looking at 1-2 other loans, and again made clear that no deals in will be permanent
  • None of the players out on loan at the minute will be recalled in January

Purely for the sake of balance, so are you.

I’m shite? Fair enough, I’m not right good, I don’t even really try to be honest. But then again I play five-a-side at Pits not professional earning £k’s

I usually make a note of which opposition players impress me. For example, when we played Derby last week I noted that number 8 Jason Mount and number 7 Harry Wilson were both really impressive. But this guy Dowell has never popped up on my radar.

It sounds from the stuff I've seen and read that Dowell has lots of skill but faded away badly during the second half of last season and he's accused of being a bit lacking in physical ability. Forest weren't too keen to come in for him in the summer despite him scoring 10 goals for them. So I wonder why that is?

He's obviously got something about him though and I hope that Wilder can get it out of him and that he will be a good addition to the squad. I'll reserve judgement also, because I don't really know much about him.
