am I right in thinking Stevens and Norwood both hit 5 yellows yesterday and are now out for the Blackburn game?
If so I guess coutts gets a run but who for Stevens, would anyone else give keen a run at left wing back.
Thoughts please ladies and gentlemen.

Johnson would surely have come in at left back (were Enda suspended). The lad who’s actually played some senior football this season

Not sure what's happening with Kean Bryan. Wouldn't mind seeing him though - maybe the Barnet game will be his time.

Don’t think Johnson will get anywhere near a start ... thank god !!
Not when Stevens is fit/available. But if he wasn’t, he’s surely the natural replacement. On the bench again yesterday wasn’t he?

Not sure i get all this anti-Johnson blurb

yes, he made an error after coming on at Rotherham, ultimately leading to a goal. however there were two other big cock ups in that particular run of play, from Stevens and Norwood AFTER Johnson lost the ball, so it wasn't entirely his fault .

In fact if it was players being bashed for giving goals away, Norwood has made far more errors recently , so as leading to goals conceded than Marvin Johnson has.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing him a couple of times to see if he is indeed able to push Stevens for a place, purely since if Stevens does gets suspended/injured we need to know who slots in readily rather than a square peg in a round hole, meaning we might need to change our proven and successful shape and style of play.

I'm more worried about our player of the season so far reaching ten. Is he on eight and does ten then lead to two match ban?

I think that's right yeah, and the cutoff where it goes to 15 cards for a ban is after 37 games so he's no chance. That'll be mid March?

I'd start planning out the best games to be suspended for if I was staff at United.

We've got Couttsy on the bench though so at least we'll see him back where he thrives.

Who would you play left wing back if Stevens was out for whatever reason?
If Johnson isn’t capable (which we don’t know yet) then I’d play JOC at LWB and bring Stearman in. That might upset the balance slightly but that’s the best I can come up with.

Stevens has been very good for some time now and that signifies to me that he sees Johnson as a danger to his spot, that’s why his performance levels improved remarkably in such a short space of time earlier in the season. That’s my guess anyway. :)

If you were despertate to avoid Johnson playing, O'Connell probably could play wing-back, but unbalancing the centre backs to crowbar Stearman in would never happen.

Also Lafferty still exists, so he'd just play left wing back if it wasn't Johnson.

Really don't know why on one incident people are so against Johnson. In the same move breakdown it was Norwood that ultimately cost us and he's been at fault for a few goals this season. WBAs first was the latest.
Give the lad a chance to get in and fail before you put him out of a job.

I don’t mind Lafferty but it would be a brave move to put someone in who hasn’t been involved at all for so long.

Do you not think that Johnson deserves a chance?

Nope. I know he’s only had a few minutes here and there but rabbit in hightlights spring to mind. Unfortunately the crowd wouldn’t allow him to settle in the role but I feel it will not be a reality anyway.

Would/do you give all of our signings just a minimal amount of minutes on the pitch to show what they can do?

I’m not saying he’ll be any good for us but he hasn’t been given a chance and to write him off before allowing him to show he isn’t good enough is daft. We’d have wasted a hell of a lot of money in the past if we’d have got rid of players after a poor first few games. Coutts and Freeman probably wouldn’t be still with us.

Don't we only have Mavin Johnson until Jauary unless we make the deal permanent?

No I don’t/wouldn’t. Just based on seeing 6 of his 8 appearances so far for us. He has been very poor each time and every single game he’s played in has either been drawn or decided by one goal. Therefore very small margins and unfortunately we cannot carry passengers in those kind of games !

You obviously have an issue with my view .. fair enough. I will not change mine either and prefer he’s goes back to the smog to free up another loan place, and Woodman following suit too.
