How many more points must we drop due to 2nd half goals conceded at the Bramall Lane end before we think to do this?

We even score more at the BL end.

We need to squeeze out every 2nd half advantage we can get and surely this could be one of them.

No chance, kick towards Kop second half.

When do we ever do anything at the Kop end these days?

Whenever we've needed a late goal there in recent times, I don't recall anything other than us looking absolutely hopeless.

During the 1970-71 promotion season, we usually kicked off towards the Kop in the 1st half and scored more at the Lane End

Obviously, the slope on the pitch towards the Bramall Lane End has worsened in recent weeks.

Don’t worry, with all the seismic activity in the planet’s surface, it will flatten out in time...

Under Warnock even a 90th min corner felt like a massive opportunity in front of the kop.
Billy got a late one earlier in the season but whatever the stats are it does feel like kicking towards the kop isn't an advantage anymore.

I'd still fancy us to defend the Kop better though because the opponents don't have the comfort of kicking towards their own fans, and the half they're more familiar with from the warm up.

Wonder what the stats are over our history.......................

Any reasons we shouldn't do this then?

Other than "whey we'll kick towards t'Kop second haif cos it's what we do..." ?

Wonder what the stats are over our history.......................
1970-71 promotion season

15 home league games when we kicked towards Kop End in 1st half
Swindon 2-1 . Both goals at Lane End
Bristol City 3-3. All three at Lane End
Boro 1-1. Lane End
Wendy 3-2. Two at Kop (Colquhoun's header was our first of the season scored at Kop End.) Tudor's winner at Lane End.
Orient 3-1. All three at Lane End.
Carlisle 2-2. Both at Kop End.
Oxford 3-0. All three at Lane End.
Leicester 2-1. Both at Kop End
Portsmouth 2-0. One at each end
Luton 2-1. Both at Lane End
Sunderland 1-0. Lane End
Hull 1-2. Kop End
Millwall 2-0. Both at Lane End
Birmingham 3-0. One at Kop Two at Lane
Cardiff 5-1. Two at Kop. Three at Lane

Plus Currie's winner v L**ds in League Cup was at Lane End.

6 home League games when we kicked towards Lane End in 1st half.
Bolton 2-2. One at each end.
QPR 1-1. Lane End
Charlton 3-0. All three at Lane
Blackburn 5-0. Three at Lane and Two at Kop.
Norwich 0-0
Watford 3-0. Two at Lane and one at Kop.

The following season we still usually kicked off towards the Kop End in the 1st half and still scored more goals at the Lane End

Agree with this. We used to have a siege mentality in the last few minutes, where you really felt we could get something.

Not sure if its our high tempo style of play, but we rarely seem to have that last 5 minutes of excitement at the home games now. We just fizzle out if we are losing.

Think were clutching at straws a bit now with this sort of analysis ,next it’ll moon ankignment & Nostradamus prophecies.. it’s probably more just about putting the ball in between the sticks more often than the opposition .. but I’m no expert in these matters ?

Marginal gains. And I don't think it's even that marginal.

We look like Daaahby when we kick the other way to where everybody is facing.

I'm reyt confused nah.

Amazing how at the start of the season when the players aren't knackered this wasn't a problem (see Norwich), but now it is. Maybe, just maybe, it has to do with not having a striker that'd put away some of the chances that have been missed, then we could rotate more, play a less intensive and more destructive style of football to hold leads, both of which would make it seem like the same eleven aren't completely fucked towards the end of the game wherever we're playing and regardless of direction

It’s an interesting theory. What are the actual stats this season and under Wilder in general?

Also relies on us winning the toss and being able to choose of course.

That was absolutely brilliant. Very satisfying second half. A bit like what we used to get.

But it was a one off. I wish we had that more often.

Suppose it justifies kicking that way for the next 2 seasons!
