I don't see why not. Everything at the club is comfortably premier league level apart from the actual league we play in. The infrastructure is there, the manager is there and with the riches just getting to the premier league gives, there is no credible reason as to why we could not compete at the highest level.

It's been shown time and time again that you don't need to spend mega bucks in a shit or bust situation to survive at the top table. If we were to get there, I genuinely believe that we can and will compete.

Edit: Actually, there could be one reason why we couldn't compete at the top level. That is the board room shenanigans that have been ongoing recently. This situation needs resolving ASAP or will risk holding the club back.

No, I have no ambitions to be a northern town. I’m happy enough being a person thanks.
Hirsute? Please don't tell me its a location as in Shepherds Bush.....almost a shitty as Acton...commiserations :-) Mind you we did like to stop off for a pint after a couple in the loacal on Ealing Broadway on our way into town town :-)

BTW, I know I went off piste rambling on about old countries but WTF is this thread?

Have the S6 massive invaded S2, because talking about the Premier in November seems more than a bit deluded to me.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Balls. I came on to do just that

We do get promoted this season how can we compete in the Prem without major investment, can we attract or afford the likes of Brooks from Bournemouth? We might be able to squeeze some top performances out of our current squad now but who in our team are premiership material?

Think you’ve just cornered the market in fucking stupid questions..

Neither Acton nor Bush are shitty. Rather an odd statement to make from someone purporting to know London. Like most parts of London it’s got a mix of nice areas and bad ones. I certainly wouldn’t want to walk around White City or the South Acton estate at night but there are some lovely areas in the Acton/Chiswick/Shepherd’s Bush borders.

Bush, tbf, has become more gentrified and has changed a bit over the last 20 years but even in biographies of The Who, Acton is referred to as being quite posh.

The same was said about getting promotion to the championship.
We’ll spend next to nowt by premiership standards and punch above our weight.

There's no way we could afford the likes of Brookes, that lad would be worth £20million plus, and which club in their right mind would undersell such a talent? Oh wait...

Depends what you mean by compete? I imagine our budget if we got promoted would still be substantially less that Villa, Boro, WBA, Stoke and Villa's from this year.

We'd rely on CW finding a bigger hat with even bigger rabbits

Same hat but he'll need to pull out hares 'cos we need pace apparently

For goodness sake.

Getting to the prem would be a rayt laugh.

We'd be brilliant, in our own way, and there's absolutely nothing to lose.

Anyone who desires anything less, or thinks that getting to the top tier of English football would be damaging to utd in the long term, is a fool.
