This is not a dig at most fans, players and Chris BTW.

David McGoldrick - 31 year old free
Billy Sharp - 32 year old 500k
Leon Clarke - 33 year old 150k
Mark Duffy - 33 year old free

I'm not even going to waste time on the other 'attacking' two players we have.
Anyway if you look at what these four cost and their age then why are we expecting high energy 90 minute performances and wins every week? I don't see why 'some' negative fans think we have a right to win every week as we're obviously over-achieving as it shows. I just think these four are expected to deliver regularly and also they are going to tire playing week in week out at their age. Don't get me wrong they are fantastic players and have been great but i can't see the high energy performances lasting a full season again. Also a lack of pace is a problem for me (Not going into new signings and the JTW)

I think it's one of the reasons we fell away last season, and it will probably happen again this season (although obviously i hope i'm wrong).

To ask our 30+ y/o players to keep up the tempo we play at for 46 games is asking a fair bit too much of them i reckon.

we all know we are 4th behind 3 teams who can outspend us x 4 or 6 times even if we spend another 10m in january

have derby and leeds blown it as they got pasted this weekend

our problem is we just dont believe, never have, so we drew a game

Yes, some people seem to think a squad with the 5th lowest wage bill in the division should never lose and hammer sides in the lower half of the table .

We have made incredible progress and the next step was always going to be the hardest as about 20 other sides in the league will tell you.

Its football fans their expectations where they are in the table. Didnt simon grayson get sacked by Huddersfield in 2012/13 had a great start in top 6 then dropped away & got sacked

But fans are always competitive they want the best. Of course we all promotion but we all understand what we are up against with. Scary amount of championship clubs that have 1 player worth more than our starting 11. Is it wrong to say that we are on players overachieving but arguably underachieving on results we should really be on 35pts

I think we need more youth and pace up front. However, there’s also possibly a bit of age-misconception going on here as well.

In the 1970’s most (outfield) players were past their sell by date, or so it seemed, when they turned 30. Nowadays players are more like athletes than back then. They are far fitter, have better diets, better sports science technology to support them, better sports equipment, better pitches to play on, less physical contact in the game, etc.

I think the age of being “slightly past it” is now more like mid-thirties not early 30’s. So there’s plenty of mileage in these old dogs yet.

Billy looks fitter and faster than I’ve ever seen him tbh. McGoldrick looks 10 years younger than he did when playing at Ipswich. Duffy seems to fade in some games admittedly, but he’s got so much skill that it’s going to take an amazing younger player to replace him. And Clarke? He’s an enigma. Nowt to do with age that. He’s just very hot and cold. Always has been

Only three teams have so far scored more goals than us. Age had nothing to do with us dropping points last week. Didn't a ninety year old score a pen at the lane a couple of weeks ago :-)
Derby spent a bucket load on a striker we wanted, who has been a complete waste of time and money.
There are no guarantees whatever the age of players. If we freshen the squad in January there is still no guarantee the incomers will play, never mind improve the team. We have to trust what Chris Wilder is doing and enjoy the incredible standard of football we are currently watching.
I liken us to Brighton. When they came up to the Championship they were around the top for a couple of years before they finally got promoted. I'm sure it will happen either this season or next :-)
