I understand the disappointment with the result last night but by simply setting up the way they did, Wednesday showed just how far we have come. Its frustrating things aren't happening quicker but when we watched Wednesday against Hull in the play off final whilst contemplating the very real thought that they would leave us behind forever, nobody could imagine how different things would be less than 3 years later.

We have made huge strides to the point where we have made Wednesday humiliate themselves by treating us with the utmost respect. Yes, they are struggling but they set up like we are leagues apart. I can't imagine how bad that must have been to watch for any Wednesday fan last night. I know we would all have preferred if we woke up this morning after winning 1-0 in a poor display but the performance of both sides made more of a statement to everybody about the two clubs than a scrappy 1-0 win would have.

Far, far too rational Roy.

Give me 24 hours and I'll be there. At the moment I'm still pissed off :D

I think another season in the championship could see us up as champions, this season, if we spend in Jan, we will be top 4, if not, top 8. Getting better every year and hopefully building, I'm just dreading the prospect of no Duffy, Sharp, Clarke, Mcgoldrick, Bash, with no back up coming through.... I know it won't happen like that, but we need the funds available to shore us up.

I’m happy that they didn’t nick it with a spozzy goal late on. We played OK, it was like a cup tie against a lower league side hanging on for a replay, defending for their lives. Had the pen gone in they’d have had to open up and we’d have probably picked them off. But it didn’t, shit happens.

But we've got the academy to replace the lads as they hang up their boots, thats how it works isn't it?

Spot on Roy. I’m still really proud despite the frustration of last nights result.
A happy blade on my way back to Liverpool.

If I was Sharp I'd gaha fucking grabbed that ball and buried it. Fuck gentlemen's agreement and everything else. Fuck everything.
Get the penalty put away against them.
But no.
Why?

You're not wrong Sir. I remember watching their game against Hull and thinking they're gonna rocket ahead, especially given the Chansiri hype at the time.

Interesting and rather enjoyable that we now appear to be miles ahead of both those sides involved in that final!

It’s 2 points dropped, end of story. It happened against Stoke, it happened against Birmingham, games where we’ve had loads of the ball but done nothing with it. Yes I’m pissed off, not with the way we’ve played but the fact we’ve not won. They are easily the worst side we’ve played at Bramall Lane and we’ve not taken advantage.

It’s also a big indicator that we will eventually fall out of the top 6 because of how tight it is up there. Games like tonight and the other times we’ve dropped points this season are the difference between getting in the play-offs and finishing mid table and unfortunately we will finish in the latter if we continue to drop points at home.

Because I’ve seen sharp blast them too hard and without any real direction. I don’t think he’s a good penalty taker.

We've surpassed my expectations so far, the football we're playing is winning football and fabulous to watch. Last night, like Stoke and Derby was just a little bit of magic away from being 3 points.

I think the Wolves fan on the neutral View from called it perfectly, we're playing football that over the season will see us at the top end come spring.

Whether we'll have quite enough to make that top 2 is a question we can't answer until March/ April. But we're top 6 at least, which is better than i expected

I feel exactly the same Roy. I don’t feel down at all today, almost elated, we’re sooo close to being an outstanding Blades team. I think that we need 2 or 3 new players of similar quality to what Norwood, McGoldick, Hendo and Egan have been and we can give it a real go in the second half of the season. I’ll leave it up to Wilder to decide where those players should play and hope he gets the chance to bring them in.

A few Fulham fans on Twitter last night were comparing us to them last season before they signed Mitrovic, fantastic to watch but they needed more end product. Let’s hope all concerned take this onboard, I don’t think we’ll have a better chance to really kick on.

I agree we will fall out of the top 6 because we aren't clinical enough but I think it's important to see how far we have come too. If you are going to fail then at least give us some football to enjoy. We can't ask for any more from this group. They are at their limit but what a ride they have given us.

I don't expect the top 6 personally. In fact it's ridiculous that we are even a contender with the wage bill and everything else that's going on. I am frustrated how close we are to being a top, top team but I'm also very proud to support a club who play in the manner that we do. We will look back on these days as say "I wish we could go back"

I totally agree Roy, it is like falling in love with my team all over again, I grew up watching TC, Woody et al & the doldrum years had me fearing I would never again see exciting attacking football from us. Now I know we don't play the same way, but I am now looking forward to seeing us play, there is a feel good factor around everything United now & it is satisfying hearing pudits & so called experts gushing over the style of football we play & after so many years of being branded long ball merchants & hoof it cloggers. If we were not playing with so much style but winning games 1-0 by grinding results fans would be calling for more & to be patient & the style would come. Well it is here, now, drink it in, savour it. Our upward curve is growing at a much greater pace than our few pennies in the bank, CW & AK are getting close to maximum from our players week in week out & they know what they are doing, & when the final bits of the jigsaw are in place just watch us go.

This, totally agree, now what ?

Well a couple of key signing at the top end would obviously be a huge benefit to us, failing that it is coaching the players to be better every day. I feel a bit for Baldock after his performances last year but agree that Freeman is a better player going forward, but perhaps we could think about playing them for half a game each to maximise their contributions? I also wondered if Johnson was brought in with an eye to turning him into a better version of Enda, who has also recovered well after a shaky second half of last season. He is faster & as a more attack minded player he should be able to produce a better end product, but no guarantees of course.

Agree with that, Tufty has more depth this Season, Baldock and Johnson being a part of that

One or both em for the last 15 mins would have intro'd more energy

I think I'm ok because I spent the entirety of the second half saying "they're gonna nick one" so at full time it felt like we'd got an equaliser.
I was thinking the same but wasn't willing to say it out loud. Thought they'd probably score from a shitty corner or free kick into the box late on.

It was a real pauper’s effort by them wasn’t it “please go easy on us sir”.

There’s even some on Porktalk having the temerity to suggest any debate about the City being ours.

4 points last season and the Bouncing Day Massacre clearly painted the City Red and White and the total cowardice to actually go toe to toe with us last night further confirmed it.

Pity about the pen. If they had to attack then we may have got to see more of their defending vs Norwich. As it wad a back of 9 defenders seemed their only plan.

Remember how shit it was under Blackwell even though we were practically guaranteed a play off spot.
