Just wanted to post to discuss the match from my point of view, not looking for an argument or anything like that.

Got to be honest, I was embarrassed by us last night. We have injuries etc etc but how Jos set the team up was utterly embarrassing for me.

I thought you lot were outstanding to be honest and it pains me to say it but I feel guilty about taking a point from that. No doubts at all that you will be up there at the end of the season playing like that. Glad it's over.

I was happy when you took McGoldrick off, he seemed to be linking a lot of the play together.

Thanks for your very honest view.
I'd be very worried if I were you though.
Derby or not, parking the bus will get you relegated.

The tide has well and truly turned, you are miles away from us now.

Welcome to the forum!

The banter I’ve had for months since we played you last was that you parked the bus last time and it would be nice if you just came and had a go at us.

4 straight hammerings for you before this one meant that Jos was only going to come and park the bus again!

I agree that it was embarrassing and I’ve not seen a side dominated like that for years.

Defensively you managed to keep us out, but offered absolutely nothing else.

McG looked knackered when he went off, but he was class last night.

Hopefully you’ll be a little more attacking in the next game

Respect your honesty but have to say that is the worst Wednesday team I've ever seen. I've also never seen such a one sided match.

Yep I am worried. We have been defensivley awful so if the only way that we can keep a clean sheet is to play in that manner then we will go down. We can't set up like that every match.

Wilder has done amazingly well to develop a style of play and has developed it over a few years. I would have hoped that Jos could have defined a better way of playing after been here almost a year now.

You are clearly not an SWFC fan as you’ve spoken a lot of sense, I can only assume you’re a Blade on the wind up. :D

Not much to say really, we have loads of the ball most games, yesterday more so than normal, but have been unable to create many clear chances in the last 2 games. We’ll get wins but we’ll also get sucker punched for not creating/taking chances and for that reason I am doubtful we’ll keep with the top 6.

For yourselves it looks very bleak. I’m not so sure you’d have kept a clean sheet against over half of the division last night. If it’s too risky to attack and you defend like that, which seemed very last ditch at times, then you really are looking at the trap door.

Hopefully they won’t their fans deserve to watch that shit

I agree. We can't play like that every week. I thought that we did defend well but you also need luck if you sit that deep which will run out. If we do attack more then we concede loads.

Can't really criticise how you played much to be honest. Maybe you could have got more balls in to the box but that's nit picking.

Welcome to the forum.

As you'd expect, you'll find a fair few Blades on here who will be ready to argue with anyone from S6 simply on reflex - but if you keep making honest and fair comment, there are more on here who will give you a fair hearing and be interested to hear rational thoughts from "the other side". Keep away from the "Massive Club" bullshit and you'll not go too far wrong. Have a read at Rogbiv's "View From" thread - you might find that interesting and it'd be nice to have your thoughts.

A question for you - There's a lot of talk on RS from your lot about Jos getting fired. With the FFP hole you're in, can you afford to fire him and pay the compensation?

Fair post. I've not seen a side under so much relentless pressure from us since the League One days. I think a fair few of your fans will be embarrassed whether they openly admit it or not. You paid us far too much respect

Thank you for the welcome. I'm not hear to wind anyone up, yeah i'll have a look in the view from thread.

We are in a mess with FFP it seems and the chairman has brought it on himself. No long term strategy gets you in this kind of a mess. To be honest I am not sure but if we carry on like we are then I don't think we can afford not to do something. Relegation to league 1 is probably more expensive as we both know. Until we can get rid of some of the high earners buy running their contracts down then I think that we are stuck a little. We are on a rebuilding job where we need to think more long term but I am not convinced that Jos is the man to do it.

I think most are embarrassed. Not my going away to a side at the top and getitng a point but the way that we set up. There is a thread on Owlstalk about it. Some are embarrassed, some not and some probably not admitting it.

Thanks for sharing your views. It was the first time I’ve watched a derby match without feeling particularly nervous. Even in the 4-2 game last year, I was worried you might nick a couple of late goals. Last night, it just felt like there was no threat whatsoever. As has been mentioned elsewhere, Wednesday averaged less than two completed passes per minute throughout the whole game. So it just came down to whether we’d convert chances or not. We didn’t, which was poor on our part, but that won’t last forever, and at least we know that our players put that same level of effort into 9 out of every 10 games, minimum.

From a Wednesday point of view, your choices are (i) carry on parking the bus, or (ii) go back to the iffy defending of recent weeks, neither of which is very becoming of a supposedly “bigger, better, older” club. The more your fellow fans celebrate the 0-0 draws, the more you’ll get sucked into that mentality.

It’ll be interesting to see how the January transfer window goes for both teams.

Your fucked then. If you put bodies behind the ball but allow teams to get into positions like we did, it’s not going to end well in most games. Last season you stopped us from midfield and it was a much more comfortable 0-0 than this year.

I’d wish you luck but I wouldn’t really mean it ! Ha

I think I love David Mcgoldrick. Anyone know if he’s taken ? Our lass would understand.
Now about that penalty....

He’s just a Rolls Royce player

Play like that too often and that’s where they’re going

Agree entirely with McGoldrick subbing,Bring on Clarke as a 3rd striker yes but taking of Mc was a crap decision by wilder......unless he had an injury?

Should have had a massive wad on them keeping their first clean sheet of the season.
Just had to happen.

That was the most spineless anti-football I have ever seen in a derby.

They got in our half once and ended up passing back to their keeper.

Only one place they are heading for. Enjoy the pub league you tossers.

I felt the same ,and cant believe when they got the late corner and free kick out wide that they didn't bring on Nihui or Joao to try and nick it. The most ultra negative manager and performance I can think of.

We said a few mins before that he looked knackered. The running he did was unreal.
