Very nervous, despite still hoping that the Blades that I've known all my life until the last 2 years have been banished to history I can't help thinking that they will rear their heads in games like this and ruin the current good feeling I have in my stomach.

It absolutely baffles me when people aren't nervous for this game.

I must have my priorities in life wrong somewhere along the line...
As I’ve said, I’d be nervous if we were playing someone like Leeds or Norwich, not someone as shit as those twats across the road.

If we lose I won’t be happy but what we feel or write on here will have no bearing on the result. I don’t feel nervous about playing those crock of shit, it’s just how I feel about this game.

Not nervous at all. I have my lucky socks ready - my lucky shirt ready - the bog roll is hanging the lucky way round - just like I did for Forest. What could possibly go wrong?:)

Difference is jack, wilder is in charge of us and he will not let expectancy /pressure concern us.

Oh I know, I'm confident of that.

The difference between us and them, as it always will be, is that even with us clearly being the favourites and the all-round better side you'll struggle to find many Blades saying we'll smash them or humiliate them. Because it makes you look a right cunt if/when it comes to bite you on the arse and we're not arrogant enough to assume we're going to win just because of circumstances leading up to a derby. Owt can happen.

Of course if they do lose, they'll trot out the 'We were defeated before we kicked off' excuse, shortly followed by the pathetic 'Older bigger better' mantra.

Quietly confident but wary is the order of the day.

Agreed mate. Their comments on Roy's view from pre-Hillsborough last season were amazing looking back now. I'd hate to see our fans saying the same sort of things.

Must be an age thing but I’m not nervous at all, seen us beat them many times with so many special moments, by comparison in my memory they’ve had 2 good days at the office with us...

However.

Deano nutmegs woods.
Bobby D at the sty.
Brownie.
Tongue.
Akinbyi.
Beatties free kick.
And bouncing day Duffy..

Honourable mention to Darius Henderson murdering them in that first half...

Anyway, if I could talk to the players I’d just say, wanna be a legend and talked about forever here... you know what to do.. make it count and this game could be the best opportunity for the current set of players to write some proper history..

I’m up for it, fuck being nervous, but don’t confuse that with overconfidence or arrogance because (sometimes) the form book goes out the window in the derby.

On the night, the team that plays best will win, it’s that simple isn’t it, even if they win 0-0 like last time..

Always nervous before a derby , & during it I will remain a total bag of nerves right until the final whistle. I have only ever enjoyed possibly 3 derby games in 55 years, the others have reduced me to shreads for 90 minutes. There is just too much at stake , too many unpredictable possibilities , the fear of losing is unbearable. I will just be glad when it is all over , and hopefully , given a favourable result I can enjoy it afterwards!

You've never been on here after a defeat?

Yes and its always interesting to see the two camps elsewhere on these pages.
1) lets only see the positives in the fact we've just lost and ignore the things we might put right next time then worry about the next game like bed wetters.
or
2) lets have bit of constructive criticism immediately after a game then shut the eff up just before the next game and get get behind the team.
We seem to have a mix of the two, I don't understand those elsewhere in camp 1) but each to their own.

Extremely nervous. For once we're not the underdog and this worries me more than anything else.

why be worried

theyve won once here since colour tv was brought in

and come here with much better teams

it really is bogey ground for them

3) As 2 without "constructive" plus those who blame other fans.

I’m fine now but come Friday they may as well send me home from work. Once I’ve had several pints I’m better, but unfortunately I can’t have many on Friday due to my commitments on Saturday, which is new territory for a Derby. So I imagine I will pretty much believe they are going to score every time they get the ball.

Not nervous in the slightest.

We’re a better team than the by far and we’ll show it on Friday.

They’re relegation fodder and we’re chasing automatic, play-offs minimum.

They’re really really shit and we’re challenging at the top and will continue to do so.

I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get at least three to their nil.

Not nervous at all, in this div any team can beat any other team on the day. That said, our track record seems to be, lose away to decent opposition, beat minnows at home, bring on the next minnows.
Also, this is the crappiest Champs div ever, the three teams that go up ( whoever they are from a list of about eight) will come straight back down.

I hate derbies at the best of times. Feels like a banana skin this one.
Shitting Bricks to be honest. September last year wasn't that bad, we had less to lose having just come up from league one, that would have been a valid excuse, and thats what made it worse for Wednesday to take. Tables have turned this time round, we're being backed to win it by 100 goals, so if we lose or draw, it would be the most embarrassing thing ever.

I’d be nervous if we were champions of England and they were non league after drawing them in FA Cup.

Hate them if we’re favourites or if we’re underdogs.

Nowt like that nervous shitting ye self but excited as fuck feeling though. Cmon blades ffs

I feel quite steady. I suppose it is down to experience having missed only two competitive Sheffield derbies (both in 1980) over the last 48 years. No doubt I will be starting to feel nervous before the kick off.

The notable up and downs experiences I have had

Sub Tudor Sinks Owls
0-0 draw on Easter Monday 1971
Boxing Day
The double in 1991/92
Wembley in 1993
The punch up at the Sty a few weeks later
The D'Jaffo and Asaba goals on the day after I had moved house
Losing 2-0 in Sept 2002 at the Sty despite dominating most of the game.
Michael Brown's volley in the 3-1 win
The double in 2005/06
BT equaliser
Their double in 2008/09
3 up at half time
Lee Williamson's equaliser that cost Wendy 2 points in their fight against relegation
Winning 2-0 but concede 2 late goals in October 2011
Chris O'Grady
Bouncing Day

Dav, no idea how many posts you've looked at that suggest we're falling apart, but since the Forest game there's been a complete, and unnecessary, over-reaction from some predictable quarters. We didn't play badly, what we lacked was that spark of creativity that could unhinge the Forest defence. By this Friday we should have a full strength team from which to select a first eleven good enough to beat the pigs.

Telling me to shuddup doesn't gloss over the pointlessness of the criticism directed at the team. Yes, we lacked a cutting edge, but played poorly? No fucking way.

My post was aimed more at the being cautious over Friday rather than knocking United.

Apologies if I misunderstood your point. I'm just slightly surprised at how many Blades seem complacent about Friday, both in terms of people i speak to, and across all social media.
