So who is this so called fan then?

I am an old man. I get searched when I travel by plane. I have a bag searched if I have one as I go through the turnstile onto the Kop. What is the problem? I may be old, but I was close to wanting to throw something at Angus Gunn last season. (If anyone from SUFC is reading this, that last sentence is a joke.)

I hate getting searched two or three times in an airport though. Some places are overkill

Ched Evans fan club are alive and well I see..............any given opportunity to slag him off for no apparent reason.

Haven't a clue what you're trying to say there. I'm not a member of Ched Evans' fan club and can't see anything supportive of him in my posts and I'm not slagging him off either, just highlighting the clubs contradictory stance when dealing with moral issues.

It’s not, it’s dealing with a breach of its terms and conditions of ticket sales

All the more reason for staying clear of this stuff, it's over their heads.
Just to say on this, I know what you mean, but they're taking a stance if they don't do anything. Wednesday are currently being criticised on another thread for not banning someone (yet).

Read your Ts and Cs and don’t break them.

For buying a ticket?

Please point me in the direction of where it says in the t and Cs for buying tickets that no one can say anything about someone who recently died.

Like I said. We/people should be notified of what is/isn't acceptable.

I have no idea of what was said, in what context, or why the club found it so distressing that they had to ban someone. Show the evidence.

I don't think 9/11 was a result of ageing football supporters hijacking planes.

Not only do I have to tread through the minefield of modern life, whilst keeping on the right side of the law, I now have to keep on the right side of the moral arbiters of SUFC. The club needs an anonymous hotline for fans to phone and consult them on whether a considered course of action would result in a lifetime ban;

“Hi, I’m think of consentually having intercourse with the wife tonight, she’s okay with the idea, I’m more than ok. What is Jurgen Morton-Hall, SUFC’s witchfinder general’s current dictat on such things? Any words or phrases I can’t use in the throes of passion?

Or grass their fellow fans up.

“Hello is that the SUFC moral outrage hotline? This is Kevin from Bruss-Batemoor....” :)

No, no there isn’t if I follow 100 people who I know on twitter who are my friends etc... I want my tweets posts to be seen by them .

If United have decided to go out of there way to find someone’s tweets on there own page to try and make a point and take the moral high ground it’s pretty pathetic. People can say what they want it’s a free country.
Then set up a chat group and post on there. If you post it on social media which is open to all then you have to own the consequences that everyone can see your comments and you are talking to everyone on that platform.
A free country doesn’t mean you can say what you like without consequences. It means you have to take full responsibility for what you say, that’s the very essence of free speech.

Haha fucking hell. You really like to take something and stretch it as far as it will go, don’t you? :D

The club has the right to ban who they want, and we've no idea what they have said or to whom.....

But I cannot agree enough with the sentiment that the fuss over nonsecense posted on social media, is beyond ridiculous.

Billy Sharps approach seems to be to rise above comments made by one of life's many many pricks. We all know a few. On the internet, especially engaging in social media, we're all exposed to thousands of them, and they're the ones who say the most.

The last thing billy needs is someone sticking his windows through or hurting someone. That'll not help rise above it.

I'd like to know what was said though, how and where. Other wise it's a bit weird pubicising it. "We're banning people for saying stuff on internet forums, but we're not telling you what.....or any of the circumstances, or who it was said to...."

I hope it's not an attempt to shame the pigs into condemning some random fuckwit.

Not helping anyone rise above anything.

Billy Sharp's reaction is the correct one, but at the same time everyone in the footballing world should be doing all they can to ensure that he does not have to put up with such things in the future. If that involves the individual being banned from attending matches of his favourite football team, too bad.

So many people think that the right to free speech means the right to insult and disparage people, which is quite sad really.

You are notified when you sign up and when you buy a ticket. I’d suggest you read them rather than just clicking that you agree to abide by them.
You’ve no right to know the ins and out of this case to fulfill your curiosity.
Don’t break the terms and you’ll not be blocked from buying tickets, it’s pretty clear and simple.

That makes as much sense as the post I was replying to. Maybe you could explain what BigBed was trying to say because I certainly can't.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain we just let his contract run out.

Completely agree that United should be allowed to ban anyone using racist/sexist/discriminatory behaviour etc if someone uses it inside the stadium. What someone says on social media though is absolutely nothing to do with the club (unless of course it's directly aimed at them).
All football clubs are in the football business, and have a share of the responsibility for the good name of the sport.

It's not clear enough.

Leaves the door open for the club to be judge and jury on anything they want.

Look at that bakery case, today people know where they stand on matters.

Currently, anything said on social media could be deemed derogatory by someone at the club and you could be banned. For example, calling the joint owner the bog-roll Prince could be deemed offensive and therefore you could face a ban.

Wasn't that long ago people were being taken to court over negative comments on forums about their clubs and owners. Maybe it is still happening at Charlton?

It's all a bit shit really.

Just to make things clear, I've no issue with banning this fella (sorry, I assumed gender) if what he's said is so bad, but I think we as fellow supporters should know what was said as an example of what is or isn't acceptable.

If he said it 6 months from now I wonder if the same reaction would have happened... I doubt it.

Yes, but the value of free speech & its battles are fought on the extremities, not in its fat rump. :)
So, to get this straight, are you saying that this person should have the right to say whatever he likes about the Leicester tragedy on a public platform without any repercusions except if someone decides to get their solicitor involved and take him to court?
And a second question from some of your recent posts, do you think you are in danger of saying something on here that will get you banned by SUFC?

That makes as much sense as the post I was replying to. Maybe you could explain what BigBed was trying to say because I certainly can't.
No need to be pissy, we’ve kept this debate all above the belt so far. If you don’t understand just ask me to speak slower. ;)
