Im wondering is it best to wait on match days or outside the academy to get as many of the current squad to sign a shirt I want to do for my daughters 16th birthday. And then get it framed for her. We were on holiday for the signings they had earlier in the year. Are the academy staff relaxed about that kind of thing?Or the players for that matter? Has anyone on here done something similar? Any advice you could give me I would appreciate it.

I believe they have introduced a rule, "No memorabilia signings" any more, Too many were ending up on ebay, and devaluing the whole thing.:( I could be wrong...

I think I read on the official site that if you contact the club you can buy one signed for about £80? Might have been last season though.

I am going to contact the club I think, but imagine they get a lot of requests for this.

Pertinent bit

"If an item is wanted for a special occasion a request can be made in writing to [email protected] at least a month ahead of the event. A greeting card, team poster or shirt can be purchased with a request for it to be signed by an individual player of their choice. A charge will be made for this to cover the cost of the item, postage and a donation to the Club charity fund for signage.
The cost for items are as follows:

  • Greeting card - £12
  • Team Poster - £20
  • Home/away shirt (depending on availability) - £110
If a shirt is purchased, then it will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity ensuring that only officially approved items are leaving Sheffield United."

I have just read there policy and it doesn't look like I would get any joy in contacting them!

Just take the shirt to the players entrance before or after the game.

roughly what time do they arrive?

I bought this year's signed shirt at a blind auction after a golf day a few weeks ago. Got it for 60 quid. Bargain.

It's costing not far off that to get it framed.

Lighten up a bit Anton. This is a football forum and you have had a mix of common sense and jokey responses. What more do you expect? If you want something deep and meaningful then I am sure someone can put you in touch with Woodwardfan.

yes I know. I just didn't want it to become a big joke thread and any proper advice get lost in the thread. Ofcourse I expect some daft comments, but to me, this is something I want to try to sort out for my daughter so its important to me. But thanks for any advice .

Best way would just to message the club, they have the open day things before home games, not sure if you get to see any players but worth a shot.

All players have to be at a ground no more than 90 minutes prior to ko
Both Home and away.

When United are at home the players arrive early then go to the copthorne for summat to eat.

They all tend to be back in by 1:15pm for a Satdi game.

Not that I’ve stalked them or owt

Thankyou for that, this looks like my best bet. The good old fashioned way of keep trying and making the effort to do it! Which im willing to do. With 2 home games coming up, this could be my chance.

I'm much the same with my 'comedy'.

One day it will be like the infinite number of monkeys all typing out the works of Shakespeare, and I'll hit comedy gold......
