Both were hell-bent on going. Sunburn and glandular fever. Quite a combination.

The glandular fever may indeed be just our luck in that Bournemouth didn’t fully understand how debilitating it can be? Time will tell.

Personally, I’ve not noticed his absence.
Did you watch the Derby at the sty ?? When he ripped them apart . That's what he is capable of that what he did before he got glandular fever . Did you see his debut for wales when he won MOTM , and some of the other welsh players didn't even know who he was , well they did after he played just one game. Yes a agree with you when he came back form his illness he had some crap games , but the kids class and great to watch and I miss watching him .

Indeed - not convinced there is a single fan on here who would say with totally honesty that Brooksy would have played every game for us.

It's interesting that Bournemouth are using him the way we never did - he fits into how they play the game which is different to how CW & AK want to play (at present)

Thanks for the memories, but we are doing ok without him.

UTB

What role is he playing? I haven’t seen them at all.

He’s now had glandular fever. Many sufferers are never quite the same again, as Seb Coe could tell you.

Of course I watched Bouncing Day. Brooks did really well but Leon and Duff actually did most of the ripping apart.

Anyway, he’s a Bournemouth player so let’s take this to the appropriate section, please. I’d sooner discuss the excellent players in our team than a departed novice.

Yes, our manager is a better source than a parent telling someone what they want to hear.

The notion that he didn’t want to earn a relative fortune in the Prem is the height of nonsense and believing it the epitome of naivety.

His greedy leech made sure he was going and that’s precisely what David was up for, not staying.

I consider myself told. Another poster put in their place because what they have written does not lie favourably with the great and good on here.

Maybe I was told what I wanted to hear, but having known her for more years than David was with us I hope that she would be honest with me. As I said earlier everyone is welcome to their opinion. I will withdraw with my tail between my legs humbly admonished.

That's a nice quote !!!
Brooks is a great player , and I for one miss watching him , just our luck he gets glandular fever with us !!
I am really pleased for him , another great player that's gone just like Big Harry , dominating the game for Leicester on Sat .
Well-done David at least you sent the 10,000 wild in the stadium !!

Brooks was above average. JJ/Topplayersleave has only ever seen average players at BL , so he was totally confused by young David and his abilities.

Nonsense of the highest order.

The original claim. Not exactly "didn't want to go" is it?

"Having spoken to his mum at the Derby game, he loves being at United and was waiting for the transfer window to close before he bought a flat in Sheffield. She was praying he wasn't sold and desperately hoping he wasn't. I think if we settle him into the team sensibly we could have a real player on our hands."

Will be due a windfall sooner rather than later.Brooks will soon out grow Bournemouth And move to a really big club or even abroad.
A great player in the making, everything about his game his class and his awareness and first touch is top drawer.
Would have been nice to have seen a bit more of him in a blades shirt,
He is mentally strong which will help him along the way to the top.

Wonder why Brooks got the MOTM at the derby then ?

Soon outgrow Bournemouth after 6 games?!?! I’ll have a 1/16th of what you’re smoking, but I’ll make mine do two.

I wonder if he has been on the ferry across Poole harbour to Swanage?

The highlight of holidays in years gone by. Happy days, frolicking in the sea at Sandbanks, licking ice lollies and making sandcastles with the children.

Good luck to Brooks. Let's hope he does super good, and we get a kickback later down the road.

I am told that Harry's dog Rosie has a very expensive kennel at Sandbanks

Either way still doesn't take away the fact that he is no longer our player and so shouldn't be posted on general blades chat.

Everyone is welcome there opinion but no matter what he still isn't our player.

Personally I though Brooks was a very good player when he was with us and was so exciting to watch when he was on top of his game but blew hot and cold and it wasnt worth the risk for us. We needed consistency and he still wouldn't have been playing every game for us think we did the right thing cashing in on him. Also think putting a sell on clause into the contract for if he does do well at Bournemouth and goes for more money into the contract was a good move. We never really knew if he was going to turn out to be the player he showed he could be or if he was just going to turn out to be another flash in the pan with the odd good bit of skill etc that was exciting to watch and go you on the edge of your seat but only to do it 1 game every 10 isn't what we need right now premiership clubs can take a gamble on this we can't. Either way still not blades related in any shape or form.

Interesting to note he's playing in front of 14k home fans this season instead of 26k.

Good business selling him. Good player but not that good. Look what we got in return.

I think that anything that generates pages of replies from Blades fans should be placed in General Blades Chat, but I get why the rules are as they are.

Despite the fact he's no longer our player, i'm interested to see how much Brooks develops, he good he really becomes. We've sold many promising youngsters who have gone onto different things, from falling off the radar like Slew, flattering to deceive like Adams, having a solid career such as Lowton/Naughton, to stars in Maguire & Walker.

So far from what i've seen he'll be a good premiership talent, but i'm yet to be convinced he'll make it to the very highest level, however there's still time for that to change.

With regards the forum, I get why we don't want loads of threads on ex-players in the general Blades chat section.. however given this is a recent player it's understandable people are still interested in dicussing him. I would say as long as we stick to just 1 thread and refrain from making new ones I don't see why it's a huge problem.

This is the positive: that he went to Bournemouth, not straight to Man Utd. The chance of add ons being realised have increased; if you believe he has the ability, as I do. We nearly missed out with Walker, because he went to one of the bigger clubs in Tottenham. We had to wait until it was realistically his last chance of a big move before we benefited. A real sliding doors moment.

On a related note what happened with Simon Francis at United? Was he given a fair chance or has he developed massively since? Really struggling to remember him but thinking he was too young for things.

Boozer and not professional enough at the time.

I fear we have years of this to come, we still get threads from time to time when McNulty scores so Brooks goals will be highlighted with massive neon signs.

Wilder categorically said in the aftermath that he thought Brooks made the wrong decision, should have stayed, and that once he’d indicated he wanted to go it was all about getting the best deal we could for the club. You’re suggesting Wilder was in fact lying?

It was also said on more than one occasion that Brooks would not be leaving if Wilder didn't want him to go. And yet he left despite the fact that Wilder didn't want him to go.

But I know that there were several invisible caveats to that and we can't stand in their way and pesky agents and so on.
