Looking at this weekend's fixtures, I'm wondering whether SY & Derby police realised the potential for carnage in Sheffield with Derby v Blades early kick off followed by Pigs v Forest at 3pm.

Its well reported that past fixtures when Derby are at home they've travelled to Sheffield to kick off.

I've also been in town in the past when it turned ugly. The season we went up Derby v Pigs on the last day of the season end up with a real nightmare as the Pigs came straight back to Sheffield and it kicked off.

So when they have an early kick off and Pigs play their biggest rivals in Sheffield there could be 4 groups of nutters in Sheffield by the time the pigs match finishes

I'm just glad I'm away, I wouldn't fancy being in Sheffield tomorrow tea time...

Be reyt, no point worrying about something that hasn't happen. SYPD will have it sown up.

Thankfully I'll be going back to the in-laws in Derby after the match, so should avoid all trouble other than that between me and the missus ;)

I think the assumption is that by having a kickoff at that time and with supporters escorted to the train station, they will be able to avoid having 2 sets of supporters at the same train stations.

There'll be a heavy police presence at the matches, stadiums etc and there'll be escorts in both cities. We'll see I suppose.

Yeah I hope so. I just thought that 2 x 15.00 kick off at both grounds would mean that 2 sets of nutters wouldn't then be making their way up to Sheffield to meet in town for the game at the sty to finish.

This way both derby and blades can make their wayback to sheff and even with a heavy police presence at the sty and the train stations won't do much when they go their way into town.

Its pure speculation and lots of ifs and buts, but i'd have thought that this would have been looked at as a flash point.

Seeing as though the police tend to move games when they want, surely a pigs game on a sun and derby on sat would have been wiser and less costly on the resources.

Derby Police clearly get a lower spend and SY Police probably double or triple theres!

I'm with you Swiss - the staggered kick off times make no sense. If they so wish, Derby lads can make their way to Sheffield for circa 5pm just in time to welcome Forest back into the city centre.

In reality I don't think they'll be any problems out of the ordinary and I just don't understand the change

I'm confused - why would Derby travel the 40 odd miles to Sheffield to "meet" Forest when Nottingham is 10 miles away?

They might fancy a change of scene? No idea. Swiss says above Derby have been known to travel to Sheffield? News to me but sure he's not making it up

i'm sure I read it in one of those - our mob's harder than your mob books...

And don't Derby thugs have some issue with the pigs?

My old man told me about this.

Utd fans getting back into Sheffield as the pigs match is finishing, Blades might want to start the night early after the match and head into town, where Forest will pass and where pigs will probably want to sup.

2 3pm kick offs, to me anyway, would have been ideal, as you wouldnt have Blades and forest fans in the same place.

It'll all be fine... police are different these days.

feel free to slap me if im wrong later on today :)

Yeah the Met said it'll be fine don't worry and didn't send any Old Bill to East Ham!!!
