He gets back in the team and our creativity and threat level goes from 0-60 in no time. This is the best midfield we have (sorry Couttsy), it's fucking awesome. Duffy is the spark every team needs and he's getting better with age. Without him we are stuck for ideas, with him we are rampant.

Yes but he was struggling second half of last season with likes of Lunny and Evans behind him. Norwood is the masterstroke signing. With Fleck our midfield is like a blitzkrieg. Noticed last two games we've blitzed opposition in the first half. Basham is playing better too. More confidence knowing he has proper footballers in front of him. Lunny did well today when he came on but he's not a starter. Good when we are ahead and looking to close the game down. Haven't seen Lafferty play in ages until he was brought on today.. Another decent player to have on the bench.

It is a good thing. It means we aren't forced to rush him back. We can take our time and get him up to speed without taking unnecessary risks.

Duffy Fleck Norwood. They complement each other. Duff has legendary status for that goal on Bouncing day. I would always play him. He's been outstanding since he was brought back at QPR

To be fair Pinchy both Duffy and Sharp were out of the team for those games. Duffy is the creative spark with the sublime ability that is hard to replace. He's a genius and we don't have anyone else to play that role now Brooks has gone.

Great problem tò have when Coutts is fully match fit and it.means nobody in the midfield.can let their standards drop

Duffy is a little maestro and his goal this afternoon was stunning. But...the only problem is his inability to last 90 minutes. He only did this in seven matches last season and so far none this season. Norwood is a step-change in the way CW is improving our team. His vision and distribution are awesome. He fires out low passes with lots of top spin - the floating high balls to wide players are usually meat and drink to opposing players.

Not nit-picking, there wasn't a poor player in the 'white with a bit of red' shirts today. Last season was impressive, this season could well be much better.

I agree he doesn't get enough credit and brings the best out of Fleck. Villa couldn't cope with his movement today. He's better as is Fleck for having a quarterback in Norwood who is at last a replacement for Coutts. The way the three of them controlled the midfield first half was a delight to watch and reminiscent of last seasons holy trinity performances that took us to the top of the table. He's also started scoring and thats what been missing from midfield.

I keep hearing from these so called stattos that he's only a 7 out of 10 player because he only lasts for an hour. Well give me an hour of what we saw today every time. We have no-one else like him or Fleck and it was noticeable when they both went off Villa took hold of midfield. CW's next big task is to find a Duffy replacement in the squad. For the moment I'll be happy he starts the next four or five games because when he's on song so are the Blades.

Coutts at his very best is probably a very slightly better ball player than Norwood yes, but Norwood is a frankly brilliant set piece taker, and that is crucial to any team so for that reason, Norwood has to play.

Our midfield is that good, we have Paul Coutts on the bench. Wowzers

Because, in his judgement, Paul Coutts is a player of consummate ability? If so, he’s right. Emotion has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Personally I have no need or desire to argue who is the best of our very welcome abundance of talented midfielders. You can’t have too much quality.

But don’t pretend his argument is founded on emotion simply because you don’t agree with it. His point is arguable, because Couttsy, like Ollie, is a class act. I happen to think, however, that it’s an argument that need not be had, especially after a superb performance and victory. We ought to have better things to talk about.

Was saying at the match today , I would always pick Duffy , if he is knackered by half time sub him . More often than not he is very influential in what we do so I would prefer him on the pitch for as long as he can be as oppose to bringing him on for the last 20 minutes or so , when players like him may take time to adjust to the game . Get the old fucker on from the start and flog him til he drops !!! Bloody great player for us IMO !

The team never played as well in any match last season as they did today, even before Coutts got injured. For me Norwood is on another level. I love Coutts and pray he comes back on form, but if Norwood keeps up what he’s shown so far, then he will not be replaced by Coutts. That doesn’t mean to say Coutts can’t play as well.
