Ageing, injury prone or development for others or free apart from 2. Needed quality up front and LWB if we meant business.
What were you expecting? The hanging gardens of Babylon?

Looks like this has been done.

Very disappointing, he'll do well there, mistake from Wilder, but listened to the player, and the twat wanted out.

Left us short though, so amazed it was sanctioned.

A lot more pissed off about this than I probably should be. Young Bryan needs to step up quickly and it places a lot of pressure on an already overused Basham, in my opinion.

Still, what do I know.

Assuming true, will be interesting to see just how far we buckled from the £1.5m fee we wanted,

Undisclosed it will most certainly be but as a minimum I would expect the manager to at least reveal a profit was made, as was the case with Evans.

Shame it didn’t work out, and the lad would no doubt have been disappointed with his lack of pitch time so I guess it was somewhat inevitable.
GLTTL.

How long was the "we want Leonard" thread back in the day? Feels like the pursuit went on forever, and as soon as we got him, we didn't want him any more. Thrill of the chase, I guess.

Seemed like a good squad option to me. Shame he's off.

I can only be down to the player or his family not settling surely? Unless there’s a late late incoming about to happen, this definitely weakens us. We are just left with Basham to play the midfield destroyer role, if he’s injured we are stuffed.

Overall I was disappointed with him. Lacked composure, confidence and natural ability. Basham has shown that it's possible to be somewhat limited and yet do a great job, and maybe that'll happen with Leonard some day, but he probably needs regular first team football to achieve that.

He wouldn't have got that here.

Annoying, showed promise recently but this season is the most we've seen of him and it still wasn't a lot. Don't think this massively weakens us or anything though, it's just a shame.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

If true For me Wilders looking suspect in buying and selling. Failed to get CF and LWB and lets most promising of a bunch of poor signings go.
Careful. Said as much 2 months ago and a professional hit squad was on the look out for me !!!!

He is not the messiah. Mistakes have been made. Large ones as it turns out. Let’s hope this seasons recruits turn out better than last !!!

Although what we don’t know is just how much his hands have been tied this time around. He’s shifted a massive amount of players out and selling Leonard at this stage with no backup for Basham just makes no sense from a team strengthening point of view. This and the other outgoings will go a long way towards balancing the summer window books though irrespective of what we got for Brooks.

I hope (think) we have learned a big lesson from the JTW last season.

All three signings made then have now left after finding out they were not good enough for the Championship.

The lesson is It’s okay to take a punt on the odd signing from the lower leagues to see if they can make the step up, but you can’t do all your business down there and hope to compete. Keep buying third tier players you will end up with a third tier team.

Wilder has tried to do his business from Championship level this time but been hamstrung but the clowns running the club who are more interested in having a squabble than doing what’s best for the club.

He put one of the wrost shifts I have ever seen from a professional footballer in at Hull away - so no great loss.

The argument was he could cover midfield, RB and CB so his versatility was a bonus but since then we signed Egan as an extra centre back so he's not needed there. Freeman has come back strong so not needed there and I can't see him breaking in to the first team ahead of Basham, Norwood, Fleck, Coutts (when fit) etc.

You never do good business in the JTW (Unless you’re Spurs and you’ve signed Moura). We were struggling before we made the three signings and we improved after we made them. Even if only Evans played regularly, they had some kind of impact. We’ve made a bit on Evans and, I’m guessing Lenny, so not a total disaster (like the JTW in DW1’s second season) but not great by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s very difficult moving forward until the owners sort their crap out, I agree. It would be nice to have decent owners and a decent manager at the same time.

What a dreadful january transfer window in hindsight.

That being said it shouldn't put us off League One players altogether, there's some rough diamonds still kicking about down there.

Really!?! Jesus wept.

Disappointing deal this.

I'm not sure there's a good reason why as well?

We pursued him for so long and barely used him. Really, really disappointing. He's got bags of potential and we never saw any of it. Not to mention the fact that he offered so much important squad cover and depth.

So of the long coveted Holmes and Leonard, both are gone - as well as Evans' 5 mins are Bramall Lane also being up. And yet, Lundstram remains?!

I'm gutted about this one, we need all the quality we can get.

How do we all know he's got bags of potential? Players can be young and still not very good. We all seem adamant that he is destined for greatness, despite the fact that the management see him play every day and are willing to sell.
