Sky sports reporting Leonard going to Millwall if Saville leaves. Loan to permanent in January.

Holmes
Leanord
Evans
Wilson

Jesus

Other teams like Leeds were spending £4million on players such as Forshaw etc. We weren't in the market for good players.

However maybe we should have recruited better.

Tht's the market we're in - low cost gambles. I think we'll make a profit on Leonard and Evans, but lose money on Holmes and Wilson.Net spend will be very little. When you consider that they were the only players that the owners put new money into the club for last season; it's pretty remarkable.

This could facilitate the Johnson deal. Leonard to Millwall, Saville to Boro, Johnson to us ?

Rather than waiting for other clubs to do their business we might be helping them !

Sky Sports reporting that Millwall want Leonard - not sure it would be good to let him go as he is versatile and can fit into a few positions so any thoughts ?

Foxy, help.....

Shame if he goes in a way because I think Leonard has potential to be decent. He'll fit well into Milwall's all action, high energy team. I think given he time he could have done well for us too but we have such a strong midfield. I actually think RWB would have been his best position.

So do others. So much so that they fabricated a self-serving notion that Wilder actually bought him to play in that position. Curiously the vast majority of his ‘game time’ (horrible phrase) has been in his usual midfield role.

Stranger Things.

He was brought in as a centre mid I'm sure although he's featured at right centre back occasionally hasn't he? He's never played RWB but we ave Baldock and Freeman there so can understand why. Leonard was originally a right back though of course.

I see Leonard as more important for the team given that he is part of the match day squad, Johnson has all this to prove if he arrives, I wouldn't take that gamble. When injuries and suspensions bite Leonard will get a chance to start and then the place will be his to lose.

So what if it facilitated Fletcher coming in?
Bambi on ice, maybe a loan with an option to buy and hope for the best but I can't see this working for us.

If Leonard is the only way to get the transfer domino rally moving and ultimately leads to us getting Johnson and a striker, then that's good with me. We are desperate for a pacy option and a striker, we are not desperate for Leonard (as much as I rate the lad).

I get your point but when Coutts comes back you've got Fleck, Coutts, Norwood, Leonard and Lundstram all competing for two of the deeper centre mid roles. Or if we do go with three centre mids (and exclude Duffy) then you've still got Lundstram as back up and Basham can come into midfield and we have plenty of cover at the back three. If we get a situation where two of Fleck, Coutts or Norwood got injured then Bash and Lunny can come in but we'd be hard pushed if they were longer injuries but then the window opens again in January.

Overall my guess is that Wilder will ask the player and if Leonard wants to go then he'll be allowed to leave as Coutts is fit again and will have effectively replaced Leonard numbers wise - if he goes, and Norwood has replaced Evans. And Coutts is of course an experienced first teamer, Leonard isn't.
