I know what you mean but I think Boro will get their second choice. Then it’ll just be case of agreeing terms with Marvin the Haggler.

As soon as it’s done let me know then I can go on YouTube and look him up to get excited.

Yeah totally agree there Cerberus. I'm sure they'll still be looking for another winger, Jason Puncheon has being linked for a few days now. They have other wingers already I believe but sadly, presumably, not enough still!

PULIS TALKS TRANSFERS

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has been talking about potential signings and missing out on Yannick Bolasie to Aston Villa...

On Bolasie: "I think Bolasie will go to Villa, that will be sorted out. But we move on. The important thing is the club, the team. We’ve done the best we can do, if Villa can do better than good luck to them."

On signings: "If we can't get the players that will improve us, then we'll work our socks off to get the best out of the ones we have."

On departures: "Nobody will leave at this present moment."

Good reporting but would be better with the source stated.

So the Johnson deal will go right to the end of the window then.

Who the hell could have predicted that.

I'm sure we'll get at least a striker in.

They know it will be playing with fire going with what we have until January.

I reckon we have the deal agreed.
It is just a matter of Boro getting someone in first.
Wilder saying that there are others interested is just a way of building excitement for the player while also controlling expectations of the fans so if it doesn’t come off he looks like he’s done all he can and thenpkayer chose elsewhere.

I’m more concerned we don’t appear to be making much headway on a good striker. This lad is a left footed wide player who “might” be able to play wing back. Not an area of the pitch as desperate as the striker IMHO

Expecting to hopeful. Got a baaaaad feeling about this.

“Remains hopeful” of getting a striker is a little alarming, given that we are now in spitting distance of August bank holiday.

I’m not one to tell peeps in other professions how to do their jobs, but if we end up in a position where our routine goalscoring option from the bench this season is Lavery .... well, a major fuck up has gone down somewhere.

Football transfers these days are a seriously fucked up business.

Fingers crossed.

I wouldn’t unduly worry as yet, Tufty has a habit of plucking a signing out of nowhere. As soon as the footballing world find out then we tend to lose out due to wages, but not always of course. Stealth maybe the order of the day here

Indeed. No need for hysteria just yet. Supporters of proper music usually = a voice of reason :)

That comment could set a few hares running :D

:D

If hare is running on account of point A: hysteria is what social media is for!

If hare is running on account of point B: anyone paying the remotest attention will know that yer taste is clearly impeccable. Still gutted I had to duck out of rendezvous with yer good self for the mighty Amplifier back in the spring.

Next time :)

Agree. At present we are ok for strikers for this weekend but not for between September and January. Am sure Wilder is aware of that too

It is alarm ing when a week ago he was hopeful of 2-3 in before he weekend (I presume he meant this weekend).

Out of his and then clubs hands? Irresponsible clubs, managers and owners have created an agents perfect storm. Time clubs were regulated...... Oh wait a minute...

Well a little birdy told me we might have to wait for the next Amplifier outing as Sel’s next project could be a supergroup of musicians from his Rockosmoss label. We shall see :)

Can we actually believe any statement ? I expect we will end up with a panic buy.

I completely agree no matter how good other signings are or if Billy and Leon happen to click until Jan - not getting another striker is ridiculous

Boro are now trying to sign Rajiv Van La Parra.

So now we can watch for news on that for the next couple of weeks.

The rumour mill and the media as accurate as ever. We’ve gone from:-

He’s our main target - definitely signing - waiting for Boro to sign players - could be in this weekend - could be in next weekend.....

To:-

Boro not getting their targets - other clubs are interested in him - we’re hopeful - he might not be signing - no one is leaving Boro.

:D No one has a clue what’s going on.

Everything was sorted regarding Marvin Johnson coming to us 2 weeks ago.

He just requires a medical, and to sign.

Terms and contract sorted.
All the groundwork has been done.

Unfortunately, he is going nowhere until Boro bring in a replacement, I do not know if the delay has alerted other clubs, but judging by Wilder`s comments today, it has.

What other clubs do we fear coming in for him?

If he’s deemed not good enough for Boro, just how many clubs are there who are worse than Boro, but better than us and have the finances to make the deal?

It would be nice to have a plan B but this is the issue when you insist on fishing in just one pond.

Served us well so far, but I think this approach is reaching its limits.

I'd suggest any of Bolton, QPR, Brum, Hull, Brentford, Wigan, Blackburn Bristol City, Millwall, Norwich, Preston and the Massive may well be interested in him. Whether they could/would offer a better deal to Boro and/or the player remains to be seen but in most cases, money counts for a lot

Nixon reports that Boro will sign Van La Parra in the next 24 hours.

So we should have Johnson in shortly.
