Same start as last season

Last year we started with two defeats and a win against Brentford and two defeats to Middlesbrough and Cardiff. We did then go on to win the next four against Barnsley, Derby, Sunderland and Bolton to be played 7 won 5 lost 2.

All the doom mongers need to just look back a year. Now we have Norwood, Woodburn, Coutts coming back and a great striker on the way. Onwards and upwards we go, play offs should be our minimum target, get real Blades.
Better than last season's corresponding fixtures

2017/18
Boro (a) L
QPR (a) L

2018/19
Boro (a) L
QPR (a) W

As for Swansea, like Stoke and WBA, they replace the promoted teams. We got 4 points out of possible 18 from the promoted teams last season and this season so far we have 0 out of 3 from the relegated teams.

Oh dear, rules are rules.

Tedious for who? If we are talking about tedious I think you need to take a look in the mirror. I refuse to be bored to death by you. I think you need to check the rule book again. Some posters on here chatting about football and you keep boring us with the rules!
If you get bored by reading something once, I'd say the internet is probably a step too far for you :D enjoy the rest of your day.

I don't care about what we did last season. This season, we have been generally poor.

Wilder bought a few in over the last year who didn't really strengthen us. I'm hoping the new crop who hopefully replace them Norwood, Woodburn and two more possibles do. The jury is out on Egan.

Works like a charm.

Anyway welcome to a hell of pretentiousness, absurdity, serial flouncing, hidden agendas, false personas, righteousness, Pinchy -baiting and frankly diabolical poor spelling and grammar!

Onto the subject matter of your post, it's undoubtedly a fact that we are points per game wise in exactly the same position as we were after 3 games last season. However, there seems to be an increased level of negativity regarding our prospects to equal our achievements of last season. I have some theories as to why this should be :-

1. We haven't played as well. Actually I thought that last season although we played well against a good Brentford side, it was an even game that we could have easily lost. We were unlucky perhaps not to get a result at Boro and didn't deserve anything at Cardiff. This season, I actually thought we played well for 65 minutes against Swansea and were certainly the better team and they'd not really had an attack of any note, but for some reason we reason we stopped playing and allowed them back into it. We got spanked at Middlesboro and then got a good win at QPR in what was apparently a poor game that we did ok in. Looking at that positively, if you're winning games that you're not actually playing that well in, then you're probably alright. I'd be more concerned if we were playing really well and losing.

2. Expectations are higher. We've made some biggish signings for us and I think some fans are expecting us to be smashing it. Quite why given the money that other teams are splashing out, I've no idea.

3. We need another striker (or two) - this I would agree with. I'm sure that Wilder is trying his best to resolve this but I do wonder what Caolan Lavery has done so wrong as to not warrant even a squad number, given that at this point in time, not including Woodburn, we've got 2 fit strikers and one of them is seemingly bereft of any confidence. People will say that Lavery is not good enough, but my response would be that he played well in the game against a very strong Derby team last season before getting a horrific injury in that game.

1970firstmatch is almost at an age where he can go for the sympathy vote opening 'My memory is not what it used to be...' But be warned, my spellchecker turns the opening 'mem' to 'member', and that might be too much to admit to...

Was going to start a new thread about this but realised there might already be an existing thread was scared shitless and didn't!

I was going to start a thread about my favourite memories of being a blade as a teenager (yes I can remember that far back) but I've just checked and there is a thread on this in 2009 so I won't bother.

Must make sure my spellcheck is on. I hope I haven't offended anyone with this post. If you are offended then I apologize as that really, really, really (is too many really's against the rules) wasn't my intention. I also apologize for anything I haven't thought of that may be annoying to anyone, sorry!

You've offended me by spelling apologise with a Z.

Sorry, I'm really sorry.

As I Blade I often feel like this guy. I feel worse actually at least his wife is understanding. My wife says (in the way only a woman could) why don't you support another team. Sometimes I think the dog understands me more, he just goes under the table.

An awful lot of people joined after 2009, and many of us can't remember things that far back. We have clear memories of when we were kids, though, so get the thread started... and be prepared for some long answers.

Needs to join runnerblades to take it to the next level
Who are runner blades? I was going contentedly on the Hallam Parkrun last Saturday, when a young(ish) guy in a Blades shirt with Bladesrunner on his back went bombing past me. Rarely see an S6 shirt there, I am pleased to report.

Why do people get some sort of weird thrill out of seeking to belittle and intimidate new posters with arrogant posts like this?
Don't judge people by your standards.
(Simply because that's why you would do it, some of the rest of us don't want to see replicated post after post).

I'm thinking if I was on this board every day I might welcome new blood. I didn't know there was a rule book and etiquette to consider other than the normal social etiquette we all have to live our lives by. How long do I have to be a member before I am allowed to start a thread. Do I have to get to know the top 10, 20 or 50 posters and the subtleties of their posting.

I am learning as I already like Roy and his views from other clubs, love that! It's good to see how other fans view us Blades. I live near Burnley now and most of them have fond memories of BDTBL and the Blades. A proper club with proper fans most tell me. Cut a Blade in two and they are like a stick of rock with red and white running through them. Went to see the Blades play Burnley in 1974 I think. We were both going down but Currie and Woodward inspired a 3-1 win.

Who are the rest of you 8lade.

I made a mistake in starting a thread that had been on a while back. I'm a new poster around here but have been a Blade attending matches for nearly 50 years and that's the welcome I get here.

Next time I go to the pub. If my mate brings up that holiday we had in Ibiza in our teens again I going to have to remind him we spoke about that 3 months ago.

Decent OP, but not enough stretching of the truth, conjecture and conspiracy theory creating an aura of wall to wall misery and hopelessness. 3/10.
