Not a rumour. Not sure why I am posting this other than I was just amazed at how like Duffy the guy is. Just got back from St Pauli v Darmstadt. This guy is Duffy MKII but younger. He can cross, make a killer pass and works his socks off. Probably not Premier League class, but could help us in the Championship. Even looks like him a bit. There is probably mileage in CW extending his scouting over here.

Cardiff had the same idea. ;) Did he serve prison time in the UK for dangerous driving or am I imagining it?

German league always seems the closest to the English league so youd assume that it shouldn't be too difficult to settle in. Look how good Gross was at Brighton

And it might be irrational but signing someone the fans don't know about really generates excitement

Can he put up a Scaffold because we may need propping up?

If we had sense we'd be scouting his native Norway, some excellent young talent in the Norwegian leagues.

Which team did he play for?

I went to watch St Pauli play in April and the standard was terrible.

I remember him but not for right reasons. More as he was bought when cardiff self destructed with the red kit & solekjear managing. Eventually relegated

I really should have looked at his Wiki page before posting. Lj, he plays for St Pauli. He's too good for that level. Movement, passing, I think he put the cross in for the first goal, picking out the free guy at the back post in a crowded area. If the above posts have a grain of truth in them, maybe he's a bit of a nutter. Still, dare I say it, could be a good, cheap replacement for Duffy.

To be fair Gross was the 2nd top assister in the bundesliga the season before he moved. I think it was a fairly risk free move for a team like brighton.

I am supprised no one has sign phillip max (the Augsborg LB not the Dortmund ST Max Phillip).

I thought Gross was from Bundesliga 2?

He seems a nice guy to me. Also very underrated, I love watching him when he's at his best. He's been struggling with injuries the last couple of years.

Wish we'd look in Germany and Scandanavia for the odd bargain. They've hard players, generally mentally strong, good technically and not worried about cold weather. Also a move to the Championship would be a dream for many from said countries.

He was excellent at the weekend. I too enjoyed watching him. The sort of player that gets you out of your seat.

Went to watch them last season vs Heidenheim & was impressed with him. Although when I saw Dehli on the team sheet I was gutted it wasn't Michael Khrone-Dehli still doing bits...

A quick Wikipedia says he's only 35, I think he could do a job for us :)

Have you seen him since the mentioned match?

This is an old video, but it shows how he tries to play, bit similar to Duffy:

Mats looks a very good creative player, given Wilder's 'British only' policy I'd doubt he'd be considered. A pity as his English would be ok-good, and his awareness of the play around him seemed first rate. Definitely one worth considering.

Yep Bergen, twice. I love watching him, a very exciting player. I have to be careful here. It is my opinion that he wouldn't fit Wilder's personality criteria. Personally, I would have him in a heartbeat.

So, why don’t we sign him, play Duffy first half and Delhi can come on in the same shirt for the second half, with the strict instruction, that under no circumstances is he to speak to anyone ;)
