Updates From Wilder

You cannot fault his interview there, or the line of the questioning. Barring “what do you make of the missus chatting shit on twitter?” everything was asked. Great interview on both sides and you cannot help but value Wilder’s honesty and transparency, he always tells it as it is. He loves this club, doesn’t pull the wool over anyone’s eyes and doesn’t deserve the flack he’s received in recent weeks.

Wilder needs to bring the magic back with these signings..something like this should do it...

We can do it at the open day on the 20th.

I'd fucking love it to be honest.

Tandem parachute in? Abseil down off the South Stand?

More like they'll walk in wearing t-shirts saying "cutting our cloth accordingly".

Obviously feeling a lot happier after that. Hopefully the signings first of all sign and are players that will improve the first XI in positions we are weakest e.g. Left Wing Back and Striker.

If only 5 loan players can be named in the matchday squad will we have to apply for permission to play our games 5 a side from January onwards

After next months rent cheque Kev can upgrade to one of those Parker pens you get free with the Saga insurance products. The month after it’s off to TK Maxx for a Cerruti roller ball. Then onto a Shaeffer, followed by a Cross. It will be December when he’s finally able to afford a Mont Blanc in time for the JTW....... I’m excited.

Rumour had it he also once mis-typed “expensive pens” on google and spent 12 hours looking at something entirely different.

Every player at every club is for sale at the right price.

Exactly. Our ‘right price’ might have just been that high that it effectively makes him ‘not for sale’ as no club would pay it.

I'll bet you fucking didn't, Za.

'Cos I know, for a cert, that they would have accepted had you done so.
You just chickened out, ya wuss.

Could allus ask again. This time - not just in your imagination ;)

Oh I had it in my imagination, and then again 20 minutes later.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I’d much prefer it if we did something really positive in terms of recruitment, then announced the (possibly lamentable) departures afterwards, rather than the other way round.

I appreciate that may not always be possible, but what it feels like is that we signed a good player (one we have tracked for years is the usual Wilder story), then sold him within 6 months, despite him being a first choice starter in the first two games of this season. Yet it was all a plan?

Really?

How very bizarre!

Yeah, what I mean is, why not start Duffy instead of Evans or Leonard ?
Because he does not want to. Although he realises.....sigh ...due to one
game last season ... I presume pigs away....the fans have elevated him to " God like status " ! I thought this was so funny. Unfortunately for Duffy CW didn't elevate him to " God like status " . What a cracking phrase. All Pro Managers see players through different eyes than fans do. Being a Pro Manager is a different ball game. Whoever Chris picks for his 1st team is fine by me as I have always backed CW. You cant say you back the manager them start whingeing about who he has picked.

Usually I’d agree, but re Evans he’s passing it off as good news as we have someone else lined up. If that’s the case, why wasn’t this done before Evans played the first two games? He now has to unbalance the team twice.

That signing was a failure and I hope, behind the scenes, he’s admitting that.

Performances aside, it’s been an odd start to the season from the gaffer. Still has my full support though (I’m sure he’ll sleep tonight knowing that).

I think it's perfectly reasonable to back a manager but question some of his team selections. Not every manager is going to make decisions that everyone agrees with.
I fully support Wilder, but I also believe that Duffy should be a starter in our midfield at the moment, or we aren't as creative and the midfield / forward link isn't as good without him.

From Wilder’s interview, it’s pretty obvious that whoever we’re bringing in wasn’t before this week a move we wanted to make, presumably because Wilder was happy with the numbers in that position. It may well be that someone like Norwood had been mentioned before, but with the business we were focusing on this wasn’t something Wilder was looking to do at this time. Evans’s desire to leave and the Wigan offer changed that. This is pretty much what Wilder explained today in the Staton interview.

Have you made any effort to read or listen to anything Wilder’s said on this today? He’s made it pretty clear that this wasn’t all a plan, and that the Wigan interest “came out of nowhere”.
I’m trying my best to keep up mate. I’m on my hols in a different time zone but I keep tuning in. I think you missed my point I know it wasn’t a plan, that much is obvious, my point is that it should be a plan. And I also said I appreciate it isn’t always possible.

The way I read this was that he wanted a player, player is on higher wages than he could afford to offer, Evans deal came out of the blue freeing wages up to provide the funds for the loanee, so the loan looks “ done “ now..

The worrying thing is we still have 5 million sat doing nothing because we didn’t sign waghorn, so why did we need to do this to provide the funds?

Manager shafted in transfer window again just like last January..

Lay off the manager, we know where the issue is now...

Ps, not saying that you’re having a go at CW here, just saying in general to all on here who are picking on the guy for nowt..

Yes fair enough.

My point was more to do with the fact we only signed him a few months ago to the usual fanfare of “been after him for ages” then the next minute he’s gone and we have no replacement in sight. At least that’s how it seemed at the time I wrote that. It now appears there are strong options ahead. Let’s hope that’s the case.

But as you know all too well CB it's the hope that kills you with T'Blades.

Think it’s about bodies, not money. Already had (or soon would have) Fleck, Coutts, Lundstram, Evans, Leonard, Basham and Bryan who could play CM, so 3 spots max and ideally 2. Add the new lad to the mix without losing one and 8 into 2/3 doesn’t go

Much more postive interview from Wilder - that's more like it Chris!

I hope the board don't let him down and he is able to bring in the 2-3 players he mentioned in the interview.
