It's a lovely squad - if finishing 18th is your aim.

Well done Wilder, well done everyone. Top effort.

Why won't Evans play? Player transfers fall through so the time and they get over it.

If it's because he isn't deemed good enough then fair dos.

Apologies, I missed out Lavery but so did we when issuing squad numbers!

He's clearly deemed good enough as he played the first two games and Wilder 'picked his best side'.

I presume something has gone on behind the scenes as there's absolutely no rationale reason we'd sell him. If it's kicked off behind the scenes, I doubt Wilder will play him.

It's very thin, and we haven't had a good window.

If we sign 2 (good) players on loan, then it becomes 24/25 players, which would be adequate.

If not, then I worry we will struggle. I won't blame Wilder though: I'll blame the owners - they're the ones who need to be backing him.

It’s a decent squad. Capable of punching its weight in the top half. It lacks one, possibly two players but is decent all the same.

The system and tactics are the issue. Address that and these players can get results.

I do still believe this to an extent.

The squad is not good enough to be top half. Compare it to other squads. Wilder has got much more than the sum of the parts out of it. He's gradually been finding that harder and harder which has been reflected in the results.

We have 2 players (O'Connell and Fleck) who are top Championship players. Coutts could be if he regains his form and fitness but age is against him.

I can't imagine many more being considered good enough to be in a top 10 Championship team's starting line-up.

Whatever Wilder's issues of later, it has to be said that he's done minor miracles with the players at his command. Albeit, the quality of some of the players has to fall at his door.

He was deemed good enough, but based on those performances that may have changed, and that may be the reason we accepted an offer. Or it may be that something has gone off. Or it maybe that [allegedly] we had Norwood lined up up loan but couldn't get it done in time so pulled the Evans deal.

So a player deemed good enough to start the last two games is shipped out and replaced yet the person not good enough is still warming the bench? I'm not really grasping the logic here.

Not quite following what you have posted there mate....? but I was just trying to point out that it is all speculation. If Wigan made a decent offer, maybe Wilder re-considered Evan's importance, especially after those 2 games, and considering that he isn't a new player settling in. Other factors like Norwood potentially coming in or [like you say] some kind of incident could also have influenced the decision.

Disagree with a lot of that. I think we have more than enough good Championship standard players. The manager has a rigid system of play that is too predictable.

What really concerns me at the moment is the serious lack of attacking midfield/winger options that we lack.

Even if we wanted to switch to 4 at the back and play with wide men, I can only think of Woodburn who could play there. Absolutely baffled that we let Holmes go without getting in a replacement first.

I know the loan window is still open, but it would have been ideal to at least bring someone in today to give us all a bit of confidence.

It was good for mid table last season. Therefore no reason why it shouldn’t be good enough for mid table this year

I get where you're coming from but it seems strange to sell a first team starter for a smallish sum (750k was banded around) and replace him with a loan signing. One for one but you've still got a midfielder on the bench who is worse than the guy you've sold.

Evans hasn't gone though, or am I imagining things?

A fucking big hill in front of us!!
