If nothings happens today

I got to the bottom of Page 1, saw there were 28 more posts, and thought “fuck this”
Fantastic. Do you have any comment to make or are you going to join Silent's street party when we sign Nick Blackman on loan later on today?

There are some very decent players waiting to be found in League 2 so I stand by that comment.
Is there some shit in our starting XI right now? Most certainly.

Not saying there aren't good players in league 2, I'm saying describing our own players as "shite" is your problem.

I very much doubt you would call any of our players that in person.

It isn’t the worst window since Wilder took over for me. Hope the pointless dig made you feel better. Is this window worse than January?
At least it got me a straight answer rather than another question.

For me, a similar level. Holmes came, didn't play. Leonard came, hardly played.
We should've signed a striker (again) but ended up with James Wilson... shudder.

It's much of a muchness. Evans could still be a decent player for us as could Leonard but the former needs to knuckle down big time and the latter needs to be given a chance.

January didn't see us weaker put it that way. This summer I'm not so sure.

No,
The process is exactly the same, there's just more money involved.
It'll be the same in January, same next summer, same next January.

The worst thing for me is how other clubs must see us when we're trying to sign one of their players,
Some must just laugh and say " Ha Ha Ha, them dozy bastards are back again"
But we must seriously annoy most other clubs

What would you do if you're house was up for sale at £200,000 and some dickhead kept knocking on your door every day and offering £150,000, then coming back with an improved offer of £155,000 and giving YOU the ultimatum that they wouldn't be held to ransom. Especially when there's plenty of interest from others
You'd tell him to foxtrot Oscar and probably give them a kick up the arse as they turned away
Nice fantasy - if you think that's how the football grown ups work

With all due respect you have no idea what I'd say to any of our players.
They're footballers, not the New York mafia.

Are some of them shite? Yes.
There's much more derogatory comments towards them on this forum, just have a snoop.

I honestly think keeping donaldson would have given us a different angle/option up front!

Pace is our problem up front and he had bags of it!

Is it dramatically weaker? Henderson probably better than Blackman but at least equal, likewise Baldock, Stearman’s lost his place to the club’s record signing, Coutts is injured, Lundstram replaced Carruthers and McGoldrick replaced Sharp, again not much between them for me

I would say the back 5 are the same. The midfield without Coutts isn't as good. I know he's injured but we've had two windows to replace him and brought in 3 players who so far have proven to be inadequate. Clarke is a year older and it is naive to think he will be as good as last season.

I think the team that beat Brentford last season would beat this one. Mostly down to Coutts being out and Clarke being past his peak (in my opinion). We've had 3 windows since we got promoted yet Stevens is the only player who is a guaranteed starter when everybody is fit.

Used to. Not so much towards the back end of the year

If you stand still in this league you’re weaker

We haven’t improved last years team

We haven’t improved key areas which he has identified as a weakness

Tell me what is better than this years team?

I'm not holding out much hope of anyone coming in,we've been here countless times before.

There's no cavalry coming over the hill to rescue us ,it's time to stand shoulder to shoulder its backs to the wall, time to tough it out.

We've had some fun these last two seasons now its back to normal .

They're footballers, not the New York mafia.

I wasnt implying that you would be scared of them attacking you, I was trying to say that if you met them in person, you might treat them like human beings who play for the football club you support, rather than insulting them.

As you say, I have no idea what you're like in the real world, maybe you're that unpleasant?

"LESS DEROGATORY THAN OTHERS"

Maybe have that on your gravestone? It's quite an accolade.

As expected, as we've been told by our manager - Has this been the worst transfer window since Wilder took over?

People might say we've strengthened, we haven't. We've stayed the same strength wise if anythinh we're weaker as we've lost any sort of depth upfront and 3 of our key players are getting no older and the old legs become a factor. Leon, Sharp, Duffy.
Henderson = Blackman (some may argue for and against the other, realistically they are a similar level)
Woodburn = Brooks
Egan has been added, early days
McGoldrick > Donaldson

Then we've lost any semblance of depth upfront by shipping out Evans (not that he was good but at least he was a body), losing Brooks and not giving Lavery a squad number. 3 strikers we've got.

We are lacking massively upfront and to not reinvest the Brooks money in this window would be absolutely criminal.
Chris says we can't find anyone to improve us with the budget we have? I for one hope he's only joking. There's better players in League 2 than some of the shite taking a shirt at the minute.
We can't have only had one target in Waghorn and then when we're gazumped on him because... wages, we throw our toys out of the pram and just don't bother.

It was loaning players last time that killed us and if we build our team around Woodburn, Henderson and whoever the striker we'll end up signing is on loan we're back to square one again next summer.

It'll be a case of 'lets make do' until January. Then from January it'll be 'make do' to the summer.
Rinse and repeat, it's the same old tired story we've heard far too often.

(Of course this all changes when we sign Sam Gallagher on a permanent deal later today)

Depends if we win on Saturday.

Nice fantasy - if you think that's how the football grown ups work

That's exactly how it works pal, it's only the buying and selling of goods
There's room for some negotiation, but anybody would be pissed off if we personally went about buying stuff the way United do.
They waste the time of other football club chairmen, agents and players with the sole aim of conning it's supporters into believing they are doing something. It's a disgrace
It's a shame they can't show the same level of negotiations when it comes to selling

But melodramatic that mate.

Were you around when Jasper Johns was our marquee signing?!

I'm still in the denial stage. Still hoping something will come off. Be easier to accept once the window shuts that realistically the only aim this season is survival but for now I'm still hoping a few new signings can still give us something to be excited about.

We may be stronger in terms of depth in defence and midfield, but our 11 on the pitch is certainly not stronger imho whoever is picked.

Thanks - was just wondering where you get the sense of entitlement from? All the Division 2 players you mention, how much will they cost? How will they improve the team? How much money is available?

The answer is that you (and everyone else on here) haven’t got a clue - this includes me

For about the last week, people have been posting tripe with no real knowledge about the club’s situation - as Sean Thornton has pointed out, if we haven’t got it, we can’t spend it, despite those posters who suddenly become expert in spending other peoples’ money.

Personally, I’ll be delighted if we manage to get a striker and a LWB today, but no amount of conspiracy theories about the owners is going to help the situation.

Maybe the women should take over negotiating the mens transfers. They seem to sign someone every day.

Oh, I don't know, that looks pretty similar to what we hear from the mens team every transfer window

Would I just come out and say they’re shit in public? No why would I do that that would be most stupid?

If we got into a conversation about their footballing ability possibly but I’m doubtful. It’s not normally the type of thing you say to a person.

If you got into conversation with Jedward by chance would you tell them they’re shite at making music? No? Thought not.
But I’m pretty sure if I was to ask your opinion on then unless you’re a huge fan you’d say ‘shite’

Maybe you’re that unpleasant?

The age thing's a massive factor in whether we're stronger or not because Duffy, Clarke and Sharp were hugely influential last season - they were basically our attack.

Excellent point. That is the main unknown variable and could potentially be our downfall.

For all we know Duffy, Clark and Sharp may have been massively over performing last season.

This season they could be playing at 50% of what they were last season.
Although we will have Coutts back but can he get anywhere close to last season?

Maybe we shouldn’t make public that we’ve got a bid of circa 5mil on the table for a player. Then maybe people wouldn’t assume we have money to spend.

Just a thought.

It's highly likely that at one point or another a couple of our strikers might be unavailable at the same time. That'd leave us with one option up front.

How can we let this happen? It'd be incredibly unprofessional.

You've got four hours you incompetent bastards. I really hope I'm quoting this post later on calling myself a cunt.

Imagine calling Ched back on an emergency recall. Scenes.

I’ll call you a cunt if you want and you can call me one back

Disappointing, borderline worrying transfer window so far, especially given the fact that we've sold the family silver yet again.

Wouldn’t say Brooks was “the family silver”

Brooks was more like a large investment in Bit Coin.
We decided to cash in while we could and wasn’t prepared to take the risk of a player with massive potential fulfilling that potential.
Not alll players with potential deliver, many young players with potential fail.

For Bournemouth 10 million isn’t that much, so Brooks was worth the risk.
We don’t have PL money so we can’t afford to play roulette with 10 million on the table.
If Brooks was desperate to leave then it made sense to sell AS LONG AS WE USE THE MONEY to improve the 1st team.

. It’s not normally the type of thing you say to a person.

That was kind of my point...

Now look who's making assumptions...

And for the record, I wouldn't say they were shite to their face, or on here. I would simply say their music isn't to my tastes.

Good thought too.

However, the £5 million is the amount that bought a player we didn’t get because his demands are too high - I’m pretty sure that the club never came out with a figure we had to spend, it’s an assumption. Another assumption is that we’ll find another 2/3 players for £5 million even if they won’t improve the team - good money after bad would be the conclusion on here
