Best transfer window

Even if we don't get a striker in as long as we keep JOC and Fleck this will be one of the best for a long time. Eat yer hearts out piggies the only signing they will make is someone called M Bargo.

You do realise you will have started a panic thread on NKT.

"We're signing a full Congolese international who is a right beast. Michalee Bargo 6'3" and really quick"

"I've sin im on Utube un e's reet good"

"£10million I've heard and there's more to come"

"He's big mates with Willian so I think he'll be coming too. Possibly Hazard and Courtois too, as they've always liked the Wednesday"

"Good old Mister Chansiri! Thank you sir...."

If no one else goes then yes.

jack could still be on his way.

I really can't see Chris condoning any of the shit that comes out of this Twits mouth.

Hi Marcus, we're still interested in Waghorn...what's the latest.

Well, we hear you've still got a few million in the kitty, so that would be a nice start.
Well listen to Chris’ interview then.

Nowhere near the best transfer window.

Keeper - looks good, but we dunno how that'll work.
Egan - no definitive proof he's better than Stearman
Woodburn - never played consistently for a full season
Bryan - never played at this level
Mcgoldrick - Fitness has been a career-long issue.

Listen, I think it's a good window. But compare it to 2005: Unsworth, Shipperley, Gillespie, Ifill and Craig Short - all proven at that level. There's no 'known knowns' other than Wilder will in all likelihood get the best out of the lot of them.

Fleck, Duffy, O'Connell and Clarke was our best ever transfer window.

Indeed. We ended the season getting promoted.

This, as every other window, will be judged by how the season pans out. If we achieve our targets (what are they, automatic, play-offs, survival?) then it's been good, if we don't it hasn't.

Not a bad window, but two years ago we signed:

Jack O'Connell (subject of a rumoured 8m bid)
Leon Clarke (second top scorer in the Championship last season)
AND
John Fleck (beat both of the above to Player of the Year. Twice.)

Which we funded by selling Che Adams (no regrets).
This has to be the most positive iv seen.

This window has been a bit meh so far for me. Still time yet though.

Agree this was our best 'long term' transfer window....

On the flip side has Wilder ever had a bad window? I personally cant really think of one....at least one player within each window has gone on to be a regular with the exception of Jan 17, but even that season he brought in what was required at the time, even if they were only short term success signings.

It remains to be seen whether Wilder had a good window in January 2018.

Wilson was not a good signing, and to date Holmes and Leonard have not done well.

Evans has had his moments but is steady rather than very good.

There is also the caveat that January windows are generally less productive for clubs.

The pre season window in 2016-17 was excellent, as people have pointed out above.

Different format but the best summer for transfers for me was 97. From memory I think we signed.

Brian Deane
Vas Borbokis
Trianos Dellas
Paul McgraMc
Graham Stuart
Marcelo
Dean Saunders

I think the last 3 came in after the season started but still quite a list. Wayne Quinn emerged from the U21s that season followed by Woodhouse and Morris. Unfortunately, it was all undone in February 98 when we sold Deane and Fjortoft

Yes I was going to say last January, but feared I would get pelted! Ha-ha. Glad you agree.

This thread didn't age to well.... still early doors but we look woefully short all over the pitch

This thread has aged as well as a pint of milk in the Sahara Desert

My comment about the striker still stands.
But I'd like to add a left wing back, right centre half, centre midfielder, and another striker...

Well hindsight is a wonderful thing but looks to me like Brentford sold us a pup and had our pants down while doing so. I fail to see what the new keeper offers over Blackman why not just loan Blackman for another season. The news that no more are coming in means we are weaker as a squad and weaker as a team especially as our options up front are getting no younger. More baffling to let Ched go out on loan if we knew we were not getting any new strikers in or has the rug been pulled from under Wilder yesterday ? Very strange as the day before we were told bids were in for four players sounds like someone has been telling porkies.

why not just loan Blackman for another season.

He was on £24k per week with Chelski paying half.

If we'd asked for him again (or bought him), we would have had to pay the full whack.

We would then have one young 'star' player on considerably more than anyone else.

It was never a realistic option.

Very poor recruitment so far, a mix of we can’t afford the quality we need to improve, we don’t want to overpay, we refuse to recruit from overseas for better value options to keep our ethos,m

David McGoldrick looks a poor signing so far ... unlikely get over 10 goals a season at this level... decent link up play but looks weak and slow and didn't seem to get into good positions ... back up striker at best

Sadly, back up strikers is all we seem to have. Rather than accept that fans want to make it Billy v Leon. I doubt either - or both - will fire us into the play offs.

McGoldrick is a Warnockesque signing. Throw a lot of strikers at the wall and see who sticks. Fine in isolation, but if you leave out someone with an actual track record to play him it can backfire.

Too early to judge him given the poor sod hasn't really had much service but I was disappointed he didn't at least hit the target when he had a chance against Swansea.

As much as I am very disappointed with the start we have had, I still feel it is a little early to condemn those we have brought in. I feel as though Egan will shine along with Woodburn (already showing promise) and Bryan, I haven’t seen play. Henderson seems an assured goalie and is rated highly while McGoldrick was never going to be our main striker. The biggest disappointment is that we haven’t got a striker in because, in my mind, Leon seems disinterested and Billy has lost a bit of pace hence why he backs in to defenders looking for the foul. Lack of a striker is big for me.

The players we’ve bought in so far have not shown much promise but it’s still early days in the season.
We really do need a striker though but seriously doubt that we’ll sign anybody today as wilder has stated!!.
A moderately good transfer window. IMO

Not the best so far, I feel we fucked about with Waghorn for too long am just hoping it really doesn't fuck our season up.
