What a broad range of fans, some snorting sherbet in full view and one poster so proper he put a * in to disguise the profanity 'di*ks'

And so it comes to pass...some other bastard comes in at the last and pays over the odds to get him.
Hope Plan B is ready to roll...we need a good striker plus a miracle that Coutts is back to his best and well ahead of the last schedule we were given!!

It’s not necessarily that our budget isn’t good enough...it’s just still the case that we need to stretch our budget further for more players than others.
Egan is no improvement over Stearman, and our wing backs struggle to put quality balls into the box.
The temporary Coutts replacements aren’t fit to lace his boots. I reckon we wouldn’t have signed Evans if Coutts hadn’t got injured.
Our strikers aren’t quick enough.

Still lots of work to be don’t for that side to be a play off contender for me

Apart from the Stearman comment, (personally think Egan is a lot better) your spot on, and apart from replacing Brooks, and strengthening the defence, Wilder hasn’t done anything in the transfer market to rectify what was glaringly obvious and seems to have spilled over to this season, our wing backs can’t deleliver a ball and we have nothing up top. Clarke was anonymous yesterday. Sharp was so much better than either striker when he came on.

Clarke needs a spell on the bench to show him his position isn’t guaranteed. Bash’s time is also up, he’s not good enough for us to push on.

Correct.

Any chance you could make that pic any bigger? Can't quite make out what it is from my seat up here on the moon

Nowt to do with speed up front, we are an all attack team - one who is 5 seconds faster will just be offside. We need players who can pass to dads army up front - they will put them away, as long as we set an intelligent midfield up for an attacking team.

Beg to differ buddy

I agree that midfielders finding their man is crucial, but so is pace. Pace is a serious asset

Pace when running at defenders. Couple that with timing, making runs down the channels and nous, (knowing when to make runs) makes a difference

Currently we look flat as a fart, void of ideas. Few options

I understand the frustration of being outbid by Boro but it has seemed for a while that we hadn't met Ipswich's valuation. I don't know how much Pulis has offered but let's be honest if he has gone above 7m then he is taking an expensive gamble. Not saying Waghorn isn't good but he has only had 1 productive season at a decent level.

We could probably afford a couple more very decent loans with the money we were going to spend on him anyway.

We will remain devoid of ideas whilst ever Clark wanders around the pitch, how the bloke deserves a shirt, is captain and never gets substituted is beyond me,
He never makes a run, his hold up play is dire, never gets beyond anyone, never shows

There is always going to be a team like Boro..or a few at this level and we simply cannot compete. I personally think the fee is too high but that is the going rate and we will always be behidn half a dozen clubs who push the boat out on fees/wages. Wilder seemingly is not interested in the international market so to get a striker or the better players at this level you have to spend 7 or 8 million - whether fees are inflated or not - we will probably not do that. Whether it makes or breaks us I do not know but we seem a few years away from this sort of investment (if ever if ownership situation is not sorted).

Thats counter attack football.
Our problem is our frontfoot style forces a defence of 2banks of 4 sitting back and saying get through us then.
Speed is good if its matched in the team. A one off Littlejohn type speedster, waste their 5second advantage by having to wait for Dads army to arrive and then no skill to make the cross.
Lundstrum has the range but not the vision to deliver the passes. Duffy has the vision but not the legs.Fleck has the legs a bit of range and a bit of vision. I think it's why the 3work together so well and Coutts absence has hurt us so bad.
Woodburn might be worth a shout in that position, if his talent is accompanied with a football brain in the centre of the park .

Agree with you 58 re pace. Just watch the highlights. All our arracks are with 8/9 of their players back defending due to our snail like build ups. Their attacks are their wingers breezing past our defence (half out of position due to ur system) with open space around them.

Wilder says he has plan B &C let's wait and see who comes in he might go for a couple of loans and keep his powder dry for the next window.
A couple of young hungry pups on loan might serve us better than throwing the budget away on 2ND or 3rd choice strikers.
Wilder holds the cards fingers crossed he uses it wisely, which in most cases he has so far

Personally I’ll be pleased if we don’t sign him for the reporters figures bandied around.

Decent player but nothing more. That said we seem to have spend considerable time and resources on this which would have been better spend elsewhere.

I think it’s unlikely we’ll do anything permanent so need to ensure we get something decent in on loan. This could genuinely be make or break for a top6 finish because we look short at the moment.

Spend the waghorn money on freeman, then loan in Gallagher. Then, if there's owt left, try and get Marvin Johnson from Boro

Or Jay Dasilva.

Pretty much exactly what I want us to do.

If Bryan is unlikely to go in at LWB then I'd like us to sign one, let Lafferty go and RND leave on loan.

Just how much time have we wasted on ambitious but ultimately unattainable targets?

A huge amount, I suggest.

It's pointless. We never get them. And we never will, because.... wages.
Less time than you've spent posting about Gallagher and Freeman and the end results the same

Not too arsed about this tbh, especially at the prices mentioned ...don’t see what Waghorn would have brought to the team or who he would come in ahead of?

Nice to break 100 pages though....

Boro got him for £6m straight fee, Ipswich have accepted lower than their 8m valuation due to wanting to use the cash on transfers and couldn’t risk holding out any longer. Ours was the only firm bid until Middlesbrough came in.

We wouldn’t go above £5.25m straight fee with ads ons. We were gambling on no one else coming in and it failed.

Next.....

Pgmetcalf is genuinely mental

hang on.......isn't Metcalf a financial advisor?, same as Topplayerleave for whatever he is called?, and like I said, a grunter on Sheffield forum some time ago was also a financial advisor.....shouldn't be too hard to find and office address.....

Pigmeatcalves is deffo toplayersleave
I also have strong suspicions he is on the spectrum

At a risk of being called a negative nellie, I'm afraid I agree with your every word :(
