He's worth more than £3m. They'd be mad to accept that. I'd be willing to go up to £5.5m. QPR fans would probably say £10m.

I think West Brom are absolute mugs for not snapping up him and Ryan Woods. Precisely what they need, linked with both, have all the money, but have done nothing.

Gallagher wouldn't be plan C. It'd be a case of revisiting plan A - which he and Hogan seemingly were.

But wilder has been after Waghorn for 2 months. I am not sure anyone knows his number one target.

It's a good point.

Just thinking aloud, but I wonder if clubs that come down from the Prem have trouble shifting their mindset to a Championship style recruitment policy and are still stuck in prem club mode.

Having to downsize their targets from attempting to attract big name international stars to instead looking for up-and-coming lower league talent may be too big of a shift, and they miss out of players which other Championship clubs can clearly see are the ones to go for, if they had the money.

It's an accurate point to make I think.

We were very guilty of this when we got relegated. We could've cherry picked the best from the Championship and below and really built something. But we took the lazy (alcoholic) approach instead and the slide began...

Tufty has said it isn’t dead in the water in his latest interview. You know if it were so nailed on to Boro or anybody it would have happened by now.

Agree , and I've had a sneaky feeling all along that we're going to get him and , if we do coupled with the other excellent signings we've made , I fancy us for promotion.

As for the Sam Gallagher love in , I just don't get it . A total of 17 goals in the last THREE YEARS , including none in 15 for MK Dons ?

Having watched the videos of him , he looks like a minor upgrade from Hanson and that's not what we need .

I think we're waiting to see if they'll panic and take what's offered for fear of missing out, but I just have a feeling that Wilder is prepared to up his offer, and it might be more than some on here like, towards deadline day.

I think he'd be a great signing, obviously a good player but seems like a good character too.
 
Not really sure Boro need him. Even with bamford going they are still well stocked. Other than his set piece delivery he isn't really a pulis player either.
 

I think I read an Ipswich fan say Waghorn isn't fit,and not featured in the pre season games..so if we sign him,i can't see him as a starter for a couple of weeks..Wouldn't mind us signing him though..16 goals and 11 assists in a struggling Ipswich side,i think he could well do better than that in our side and the way we play.
Can't see any movement until they get in a replacement though.

He's not been playing in the pre-season games because Ipswich accept he is leaving, not through fitness concerns....it is his destination that is unclear....someone like Waghorn is naturally fit however and would be up to speed in no time.
 
Could be that they are happy with the fee but resisting doing a deal until such time as they have a replacement.
Waghorn has not played many minutes in pre season and even if fully fit will not be up to speed.
Still feel that we are prepared to wait until the end of the loan window to do a deal on our terms.

Fair enough,but I'd have thought he might lack a bit of match fitness with not playing games.

I can't see them being willing to loan.....unless it was fixed to a permanent in January of course.

What does look apparent is that with all this interest in Waghorn, I think ours is still the only confirmed bid on the table and publically at least, he doesn't appear to have discussed personal terms with anyone...

There's an interview with Hurst where he states us and Derby have bids in whilst a 3rd club is interested, i.e Middlesbrough.
