If...and it's only a rumour at this stage...Jamie Ward is training with us, it is probably an arrangement which is a favour to the lad, from CW. It's a no lose situation to have a look at him in training and it costs us nowt to look and assess.
If he really impresses in training and if CW deems him as better than what we have or can obtain either in the first team or as a back up player for the money he will cost and within our budget, and if he has shown he has overcome previous injury issues, then and only then might we look to offer Ward something.
I'm sure CW and his staff are fully aware of Jamie's injury record and on the slim chance he is offered something, I would expect him to come very cheap and on a performance related, low pay, short contract basis.
If he is here then it is on a very low risk basis and it would be purely on Utd's terms..out of contract players at this stage are getting a little edgy, or maybe even desperate.
I always rated Jamie even last season whenever I saw him on the pitch. But that's the thing. Getting him on the pitch regularly was the key. Unless CW is totally convinced then he won't be signed. No drama here imo.
