Now I've got your attention, bear me out on this possible scenario:

The outcome of the legal battle results in the Prince taking over the club on his terms. He fucks McCabe off completely and builds a meccano bowl wherever. This leaves KM millions out of pocket and a load of land worth relatively little compared to the value it would have realised as a going concern as a football club.

Trouble is, there's little demand in Sheffield for a football ground. Except maybe one. The one with a decrepit rusting hulk which is prone to flooding, has no room for expansion within it's perimeter, has the stigma of death attached to it and sits on the edge of Europe's biggest council estate.

They have the backers, the delusions of grandeur and would probably die for the location Bramall Lane has, not to mention the ready-made premier class academy at Shirecliffe.. It would be the biggest coup in the history of Sheffield football and the city would finally be theirs.

Ah but McCabe wouldn't sanction that I can hear you saying. Well, either he turns down £40m or he says bollocks to it and scoops the loot.

Think about it.

I really hope they don't legalise Cannabis.

Build a brand new meccanno bowl out of town for tens of millions of pounds or rent BDTBL off the McCabes for 250k a year for the next 25 years?

Let me get back to you on that one...

Why not ground share the lane with the pigs while there grounds is made into a wembly of the north, then we share that with them & the lane gets cricket back?

OP is proof the lack of transfer news seriously has an adverse effect on the temporal regions, super hypothesis and the ability to use rational reasoning to link with reality.

I was talking to an ex colleague (footballer) last week. I have not seen him for years and he doesn't really know of my support for the Blades. Without prompting he said he could not understand why Sheffield, the home of football (his words) persisted with two very well supported teams, with little success. He wondered why they hadn't combined or at the very least, shared a ground. I explained about history etc and deep felt feelings held for both teams. He accepted that but felt a ground share was imperative if both were to survive. I didn't get all parochial and emotional, it's not me but it did make me wonder and consider something I had not thought about before.

If the Blades ever moved from BDTBL then I will cash my SUFC supporting chips in and move off to the bar and the big tittied hookers. In short, if we left the Lane I would be done with the Blades.

Would make perfect sense. The council would also come to their senses, clear the area behind the ground and re-route Bramall Lane and build a tram link. The pigs would also learn to respect the place and I suspect the intense animosity between the two lots of fans would disappear overnight once a common cause was put in place. It would be crucial to sort out the freehold though. It would be of no advantage to us and therefore pointless if the cost benefit went to McCabe rather than the club.

I think the lease has 5 or 6 years to run. After the bitchfest between the two is sorted out more like 3 or 4 years. Then McCabe would have the Prince by the balls. That's why I think the Prince's strategy of just buying the club on the cheap and upping sticks has merit.

I've no side to take between the two of them and would prefer neither to be honest, I was just playing out a possible scenario.

Illegal or not it's pretty fucking potent stuff up snoots' neck of the woods o_O

Standard response to the classic MUNNEH thread of a ground relocation...

Sell the land at BDTBL for £10-£15m and buy some more land for £10-£15m then build a new ground for a further £20-£30m?

Give us a bell when that makes sense.

He doesn't buy the land at BDTBL nor does he buy the asset for £20/30/40m (somebody tell me the actual figure because fucked if I know), he just buys the club for £5m.

Ground share .......................... I suppose we could let them play their home games at the lane, the cost of disinfecting the seats etc could be prohibitive though.

Pure bollocks. Were we to groundshare, any palpable gains would hoovered up anyway to feed incompetence-led debt repayments.

Both Sheffield clubs are now renowned for their lack of investment and forward thinking. Anything they make is used to soak up the mistakes of the past. Both of us don't do 'thinking big', just 'existing'. And don't give me 'McCabe has put squillions in from his own personal piggy bank.' If it lost him that much, he'd hardly be anywhere near the club, let alone football. He's not that daft.

5-6 years left on the lease?
WYEDP?

P.S- So you think if Princey wins and makes a go of it ( or not) McCabe should damage the club by ‘squeezing Princey by the balls’?

Charming :)
