... which may be why CW has ignored those on here who have been bleating all summer that we should spend good money on a LWB.
I’d consider not considering he openly said earlier in the window him and slater would be going out on loan.

Superb ball down the line by Duffy whipped in at pace first time by ND and Mcgoldrick finishes off at the far post. The team needed that after a sluggish first hour tonight. ND looks the part and has some pace we should keep him around the first team.

He'll just sit in the U23s all season, until he suddenly proves he's international quality and ends up in the team by default...

I knew somebody would say people were 'bleating' as soon as I read the first comment. It's our weakest position and barely anyone has seen him play. It's not like anyone thought we should spend all our cash there. Just that it's the most obvious area to strengthen

He’ll be starting in place of Stevens if anything

But I doubt he’ll be playing him so soon, would be a nice surprise though
I doubt we will. There's generally a mis-placed sense of hesitation regarding young players and the first team. Players are too often sent out on loan or sat on the bench for a season or two when really they ought to be in the thick of it.

My point is that, whatever people here may think, it’s blindingly obvious that CW believes we are well covered in that position.

Half the fun is in the debate. Wilder played Stevens in 40+ games last year and Id say 75% of people on here thought be was pretty poor for most of that time. Until tonight it seemed like Stevens had no competition

Definitely. Leeds have done brilliantly giving their young ens a go as soon as they’re ready, we seem to try to teeth them in little by little in recent years

And I feel like that’s why we haven’t seen many prospects involved. There’s a lot of talent in our academy gone to waste and ended up falling down the leagues. It’s easy to say ‘if they were good enough they’d have made it’ but it’s not that simple. It’s all about timing as a youngster and if you miss the boat by a few months they can be knocked back massively.

We should’ve never kept Lafferty, never gonna get a game. He epitomises ‘cover player’
I’d have kept Lafferty, bought a LWB and fucked Stevens off. Can’t defend, can’t attack. Lafferty can defend at least from what I’ve seen. Hopefully this Norrington chap is in for the 1st game

Wouldn't it be best to...

Give Norrington-Davies a new 4 year contract.

Send him out on loan to L1.

Sign a capable attacking LWB on loan.

Sell Lafferty.

Then reassess in January or at the end of the season?

Spot on. Any young players assessed to be better than their first team counterpart should just go straight in to the team for me. Their ability will soon show. Players don't gain any ability or 'get better' by being sent on loan. They have a certain potential ability level specific to them that remains constant and comes to the forefront given game time.

No. xxx

Him and Stevens are our LCB cover though. Therein lies the problem with selling him. He's quite useful as a cover for several positions.

On an evening where we gave a disjointed half arsed sluggish performance for an hour before the changes ND was like a breath of fresh air when he came on as was Mcgoldrick. Suddenly Duffy had players in front of him moving at pace and prepared to make darting runs forward. The first goal epitomised this. Not wishing to put too much pressure on the lad but in a 25 minute cameo he offered far more going forward and had the pace to get back and cover more than Lafferty did in the first 60 minutes.
