Must admit I'm surprised - and the Waghorn signing has still to be confirmed - by the club's willingness to sign players who might make the difference between another Championship campaign and getting us over the line where promotion is confirmed.

It feels like the club has suddenly woken up and realised what they have to do if they're serious about achieving promotion.

The wage bill will, at most, be as high as it was at the start of the summer. That might change if Waghorn signs. But then we'd still have at least £2m of the reported Brooks fee left over.

In any case, increasing the wage bill should've been an absolute inevitability.

However if Waghorn arrives it's been a very good window...although as pointed out still one in which we have raised more than we spent.

As for the wages question...what does anyone think owning a football club involves ? If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen don't try and find dodgy partners who then screw you.

If we get three or for expensive permanent signings in you'll have a point.The net spend would, however, still be small by Championship levels. The test will come next summer (if we don't get promoted) as there will be no David Brooks to sell.I expect I'll be happy this summer.
