...a few short miles from the sleaziest night spots in the World.

What could possibly go wrong?

If Sky aren't planning a fly on the wall documentary, they're missing a trick!!

Didn't realise he was a manager now, what the hell. He even got the queue jump reserved for top players (Lampard and Gerrard) despite never being anything special.

Regardless I can see ched banging em in next season.

As those who have been to Fleetwood can say, there isn’t much to do there apart from go to the one decent pub then look at the sand, the sea and the birds... o shit that’s not good is it....!

Here we go again................the nobheads are coming out to play.

Choose which club or which manager he's playing for its giving Ched much needed game time. Something he's lacking back at the Lane.

How very dare you, which pub are you referring to by the way ?

Only kidding mate!

Was it The Strawberry or something, two sides to it, good beer guide, decent bar maids and an offer on lager the second year we went there.

Mind that village where we got off the train to get a taxi to Fleetwood had a good boozer by the station that brewed its own beer near a decent sausage shop.

All better than the dump that is Preston...

Let you off, thought you were going to go with Wetherspoons :) Yeah Strawberry is the one nearest the ground, never busier than when the Blades are in town :) There used to be over 20 pubs in Fleetwood but half of them have gone in the last 20 years, progress eh........

Seriously though, is this a trap to see if Evans has sorted himself out yet?

One man's trap is another man's opportunity I suppose?

I don't know why you would see it as a "trap" personally? It's a chance for Ched to get back into playing regular football. If, as we may be led to understand, a lack of regular football is all that is keeping him from performing at a higher level, this will be an ideal opportunity. If however, he's just been out of the game for too long to ever be able to get back to the level he was at before, then this will reveal that also. So, I think it's a great move for him and for Sheffield United. Because both parties will learn something from it that will help them make the best decision in the future.

I desperately want Ched to do well. I know he's been an idiot and all that. But my memories of him in that last season he played for us will stay with me forever. After failing to impress in the two seasons previous, he was like a man possessed in that season, under Danny Wilson. I've seen some good centre forwards at Bramall lane over the decades - but that lad's performance in his last season was at least on a par, if not ahead, of any of them. He was simply unplayable at times - fantastic to watch. I think every Blade ought to want to see something like that again from him - but I also appreciate some Blades resent him being back at the club in the first place and don't feel we should have given him that chance to get his life back, after what happened. I'm not one of them.

Unfortunately the "other stuff" still hangs over him doesn't it? But to suspect this is a trap because he's been sent to Fleetwood, which is near to Blackpool, which is famous for sleazy night clubs, is a step too far for my imagination I'm afraid. And I don't think there's anything in Blackpool that would likely tempt him into bad behaviour, over and above what's available here in Sheffield, or in his homeland of North Wales.

Fleetwood now have 7 strikers, it will be interesting to see whether Ched is considered as a shoe-in starter, presumably Wilder has some assurances that this will be the case.

Never liked/rated him as a player, but heard him doing some punditry work on the radio toward the end of last season and was really impressed. Contrary to popular belief (including myself before hearing him) he’s actually a very intelligent bloke, and really understands the game.
I think he’ll do very well as a manager.

You can allus suck on a Fisherman's Friend

Evans has the chance to be a twat if he wants to wherever he went, so being near Blackpool isn't going to make it any more or less likely.

Barton is probably the best kind of manager for Evans, despite being an unprofessional dickhead as a player himself, he's not going to put up with anyone fucking him over, so I'd expect all Fleetwood players to be on their best behaviour whatever their past history.

FFS I thought you were talking about Ched to start with in that post. Then I thought - you were being sarcastic - then I realised the subject was Barton and it clicked.

Sad to say, but I think we should forget about Evans, think it's over as far as playing for us again and good luck to him...

The phrase “we kept our side of the deal” needs to be applied...

That one season, we had everything and then nothing.. one man team? Absolutely..
