That “manoeuvre”

Yeah I don't know mate. For whatever reason, the Billionaires and consortium's don't seem interested in us, or if they do, we don't get to hear about it and something puts them off!

This is what we were up against, when it comes to financial muscle, the people who own Wolves.......

"...From 2010 through 2015, Fosun spent billions buying foreign firms in the healthcare, tourism, fashion, and banking industries in the US and Europe. These included France's Club Med, Britain's Thomas Cook Group, Canada's Cirque du Soleil, American clothing label St John, and Greek jeweler Folli Follie.[3][4] At the end of 2014 Fosun acquired the US insurer Meadowbrook for around $433 million, marking the first full purchase of a US insurer by a Chinese company.[5] Fosun also purchased Australian oil company Roc Oil, its first acquisition in the petroleum industry.[6]..."

Well I’m not going drag my views of modern (De) capitalism over from the General Chat :D

But yes, that is what we’re up against!

P.S- For the record my personal opinion on this is that I’d rather be in L2 with McCabe than in bed with the Saudi regime. ( which is where we were heading before Princey turned up) ..and I’m not McCabes biggest fan!

..not sure how popular that viewpoint is with the rest of the fans and it’s certainly not pragmatic with McCabe selling half his shares to Princey..but there it is.

Looks like much ado about nothing to me. Fair play, the Prince thinks that he's been smart, transferring his shares to a NewCo and thereby avoiding the need to buy the ground etc as well as the club. However, in doing so he has presumably also given up the right to enforce the purchase agreement - you can't get out of a liability by transferring the shares and expect to retain the rights that the original shareholder had. That leaves McCabe to set his own price in the open market but with the downside of not receiving any value for the ground - and to think that so many were worried that he was going to use the ground to shaft us, when in fact the peppercorn agreement that he signed actually made it worthless unless the club and ground have the same owner!

I don’t think that’s the case as ‘no shareholder’ holds more than 75% of the shares.

Ltd companies are treated as separate legal entities, this sort of thing is precisely why businessmen like McCabe/Princey set up these tangled webs of companies.

P.S- and it was McCabe who enforced the sale.. :(

Hope McCabe wins this. Not keen on seeing someone who pulls fast underhand tricks like the Prince has succeed.

Add to that he has shown hardly any interest, has given no indication of what he wants for the club, doesn’t seem to want to own the property which I find strange, and seems prepared to risk the financial future of United with his little underhand games,

I think better the devil you know. McCabe for me.

Who knows what he's thinking
He's been completing the Saudi equivalent of National Service for Royals and Sub Royals so might not have had the time.

Maybe he's looked at the Blayyyhhhddes Wahhhyyy of doing things and thought "Fuckin 'ell this lot are a bunch of retards"
Maybe he's thinking "Me and a couple of mates could make this work if we get rid of McCabe"

Like I said, who knows

Its not £20 m for the assets (as in ground and academy) if you read the skeletons as mentioned earlier.

Cheers for the heads up, I’d not really looked at the Skelton argument.

Blimey, so it appears that McCabe would like £20 million plus the present market value!

This perhaps goes some way to answering those posters questioning why no one has come in to buy us over the years...

No wonder Princey isn’t keen!

The Defendant has estimated that a purchase of the properties by SUFC by way of the Property Call Options would give rise to a consideration of around £20m above their present market value with the leases in place.‘

That must be tempting by for someone out there......:confused:

Think there are some other words and each person might interpret it differently but I don't think he's asking for 20 mil above market value.
The way I read it is with the discounted leases in place the assets are worth XX to a potential buyer.
If a potential buyer could lease those same assets at market rates instead, being higher, the assets would be worth XX plus 20 million I.e. 20 mil is the hit or loss in asset value due to the leases being discounted rather than market rates.
Its like leasing out your house say at a discount rate of say 1% per annum when you might get 5% on the open market, your asset is worth a lot less to a potential investor if tied to discounted lease rates.
The inference to me is party A thinks the assets are worth a lot more than £20 million but was only asking for market value in a non discounted environment plus £5m, not unreasonable, but I'm only guessing, who knows?. What a mess.

I agree that party A thinks the assets are worth more than £20 million...selling them for more than £20 million is the problem, especially with the leases in place.

Yep, it’s a mess alright.

Hey-Ho...let’s hope we sign Egan and Wilder can keep the place running at full pelt for another good season.

UTB!

That 'something' is almost certainly Mr. McCabe. It's his baby, he's stuck with us through thin and thinner and now the money is rolling into The Championship, he wants to grab a slice of it. Unfortunately, he's playing with some very big boys here and can't possibly compete without bringing in some very wealthy backers.

McCabe will have the final say on who he considers is suitable to inherit The Blades. We must trust him. After all, his judgment of people like The 'Prince', Terry Robinson, Trevor Birch and numerous hopeless managers is faultless.

Mybe the prince just wants Bramall Lane would be a nice piece of land to sell was not once talk of a new stadium?

Yeah..you’d think they’d be que9mg up!
‘They’ aren’t though....I guess as I’ve just posted above it’s not just the upfront costs, it’s the yearly losses....I dunno why people are not queuing up to buy us if it’s a great deal.

What would happen if a serious billionaire who was also good guy and good football man was interested ?
What if he said he would bring the best players possible to Bramall Lane but he's not going to do it all on his own ?

What if to justify his own spending he wants fans to pay more for tickets, buy better quality merchandise and much more of it, use the clubs facilities, hotels, bars, restaurants and even pay a little more for a drink than they would in the Sheaf heaven forbid. This in turn then attracts better sponsorship deals because of the increased activity, especially with club merchandise.

He'd probably run slap bang into a brick wall...…..It's called market Research.
Who knows, a few serious potential takeovers may have already been discussed in boardrooms around the world but they then run into the problem with our fans preferring cheap and tacky to quality and realise it's a loss making enterprise no matter what they do

Lol....’blame the fan’s’ eh.
Pathetic.

The last thing I'll do is blame the fans
But we do have one of the poorest fanbases in football, or at least fans not willing or able to pay.
Maybe a bit of success would change that, but would be buyers just see a fanbase that likes everything cheap and not so cheerful

Man Citehs fan base was very similar to our’s...I think you’re barking up the wrong tree here.

Fans fault part 3427

You sound remarkably like Lee Strafford.

Dude.

I think supporters "Base" is pretty much the same everywhere
However it's the additional extra support that other clubs seem to have in much wealthier cities.
They'll turn up and spend a fortune on prawn sandwiches, champagne, five course dinners, strawberries and cream and buy quality merchandise

Other clubs and other cities seem to have plenty of these types, in Sheffield it would be frowned upon, hence no major investmment

Quite right too.
You should go to a football match to see the football.
If you want 'luxury' treat yourself to a Bovril AND a meat pie (and good luck carrying them )

Three London clubs, two Manchester and Anfield. Much of that income you speak of comes from "tourists" from overseas as a visit to any of these grounds show, with Man, United and Liverpool the standouts.

It's not a genuine comparison.

If we were taken over, invested in heavily and ended up playing Champions League football we would certainly make more match day cash.

As I say, Citeh were very similar to us in many ways...I don’t think, even if your theory were correct about people in and around Sheffield, that this is a reason for no one taking Kev up on his offer over the years.

As a result of harvesting millions of supporters through success. Plus those cities being somewhere that people actually want to go to.

It wasn't that long ago when apart from a few more through the turnstiles due to their success there was no real financial difference between us.
Football then started to commercialise itself, and a new audience appeared, then huge sponsorship became involved, then huge TV deals, then even bigger sponsorship deals, then even bigger TV deals, Then billionaire investment, Then an even newer audience, then bigger sponsorship deals, then bigger TV deals etc etc etc

Those clubs went one way, ours went the other, mainly because our militant "Steelworking" and "Coalmining" and "Factory working" fanbase wouldn't have accepted it and it's too late to attract billionaire ownership because the new type of audience isn't interested in us.

I agree, part of our lack of "Buying" public is apathy.
A "Why should I bother" attitude

Not sure where you are going with this?, Aston Villa and Wolves are owned by Billionaires and yet they don't charge the same as Chancer charges down at the sty?, yet both clubs did better than SWFC last season (then again, so did most other clubs)

Even when we were last in the Prem, we attracted “tourist fans”. Whether to watch us or the opposition I’m not sure but they were definitely there.

Are you really suggesting Liverpool and Manchester aren't working class cities.?

In their thousands? With all the catering these middle class hot beds of support provide.
