Wishful thinking I know! Just read on SSN that Brentford have accepted an offer from an unnamed club for him.

Should imagine it will be multiple millions hence probably not us. A player I really like. You can hope.....

Leeds and Derby the ones reportedly linked. That and the fact we don't deploy wingers means I think it'll be a doubt its us who they've accepted.

That said if it's Leeds it could open the door for Roofe to come to us.

This guy is from the academy of Ajax and played in the Netherlands until 2017 so I know him pretty well, and he sucks. He's pretty fast and if you play on the counter he could be usefull, but other than that he's just poor.

Brentford seem to have the European scouting network we can only dream of. Importing unknowns and moving on for large fees.

We have to sign him simply for the name and the Zooner the better if you ask me......(which no-one did).

How's that any different to bringing them through your academy and selling them for large fees?
You still end up losing your better players, and the money you gain is irrelevant unless you invest back in the team.
At least bringing them through we get to keep our identity. Id rather have 10 Maguires than be some French lads stepping stone to a bigger club.

Is he a free transfer?! If not no! Ha ha!

It’s not really one or the other though, is it?

It’s not leeds, their James shield has confirmed this. The fee is in the low millions (1.5 was rejected I think) so if bullshit merchant nixon is correct for once about us bidding multiple millions on someone then this is a possibility.

BEES ACCEPT JOZEFZOON BID

Brentford boss Dean Smith confirmed last night that they had accepted a bid from an unnamed club for Florian Jozefzoon.

Sky Sports News understands the bid is from Derby County. It is also understood that other clubs have made offers for Jozefzoon but they have failed to meet the Bees’ valuation.

Brentford actually got rid of their academy back in 2016 I think, they no longer have a youth team.

Derby continuing to throw money at it then....after season upon season of trying this.

Amazing how some of them can do it.
Derby have sold Jim Hendrick for £10.5m, Tom Ince for £8m, Will Hughes for £8m, Cyrus Christie for £2.5m, Lee Grant for £1.3 and many more in the last three years.

Believe it or not, they are well under the FFP rules the league set.

The Bees now run a 'B' team where they hope to pick up promising players discarded be other clubs academies. We also have had some success bringing in young players from abroad. One such player is Marcus Forss a young finnish youth international, he's scored two goals for us already in our pre season friendlies. For a club our size looking for cast off youngsters is the way forward, we can't afford to pay the prices being demanded for established players. This is the only way forward for us, and think we have been reasonably successful at it. Hope that last sentence does not sound too arrogant.

It seems to be working. Your recruitment seems a little long winded and convoluted but it’s paying off. I get that trying to compete in London is hard especially with Chelsea hoovering up everyone. Not even mentioning Arsenal and Spurs too. Interesting to see from an outsiders POV
