Sounds like Businessman McCabe is being taught some sneaky Business tricks by Johnny foreigner

I think this vying for power has been going on for some time. Take last season and the stepping up and stepping down and stepping back up again of various folks to the Board. Like a boardroom hokey-cokey! That was the first sign that a power struggle was going on. When Princey brought in his entourage of legal/financial experts it was a further sign summat was pertaining.

We shouldn’t be surprised.

You have to be so careful who you share a bed with in business and in other walks of life.

“You llie down with dogs you get up with fleas” Alan Parsons Project: “Eve” album. 1979.

Hope McCabe wins this. Not keen on seeing someone who pulls fast underhand tricks like the Prince has succeed.

Add to that he has shown hardly any interest, has given no indication of what he wants for the club, doesn’t seem to want to own the property which I find strange, and seems prepared to risk the financial future of United with his little underhand games,

I think better the devil you know. McCabe for me.

And their lies the major problem, you end up a football club without a stadium and a bitter pissed of landlord what only option may be to evict us and/or change the land usage. I hope McCabe wins, not only that if the prince was struggling to put funds in before and was behind in his payments how on earth can he afford to fund the whole playing affairs?

No one actually knows what the prince ultimately wants out of United.

He may want to spend millions - he may not.

Who knows............some may not be happy with McCabe - but sometimes it HAS to be "better the devil you know than the one you don't"

Not read the article - me & The Star website have history.
Having not read it then, I get the feeling this gonna get messy and I’m gonna rely on a ‘better the devil you know’ approach too.
As Roland Rat used to say (ask your dad...) - “Come on Kevin!”.

In an ideal scenario I’d rather they both fucked off but we don’t seem to have any takers.
I was told at the weekend that a rather large company are wanting to invest in a football club and have been introduced to board, who basically turned them down flat. No idea how much truth there is in it, but the person I heard it from certainly has contacts with the company and has had some dealings with United in the past.

The Prince has no elegiance to SU. He’s a cold headed business, so surely his motivation is to make profit.
The only way he’ll make a profit is if he gets us back in the PL, then sells us.

My view is that with McCabe we’ll plod along making slow and steady progress.
However with the Prince he’ll use the club to make him richer, so we’re much more likely to spend big and gamble the future of the club. Quick promotion or bust.

Not sure which policy I prefer, that’s the problem no one really knows whether the best option is McCabe or the Prince.

care to explain why he was behind on his payments, left us in debt and nearly dropped us in it with the EFL then?

what your fail to see if he buys us for next to nothing, he can sell for next to nothing and leave us in a right mess. not to mention without a stadium academy and training facility's.

We’re all talking like we have any choice in who wins. We have no choice or input, we’re getting who we get and we’d better learn to live with it. It’s not a democratic process

Unknown future with the Prince, usual one step forward two steps back with KM.

You know the latter has the clubs best interests at heart but doesn't have the wealth, years ahead, or track record of good football decisions.

We will need a change in the none too distant future anyway so my hope is KM somehow gets control and has someone waiting in the wings.

Pie in the sky I know.

The article is a little disengenuos to say the least....Princey couldn’t ‘purchase all of the club’s shares at a lower price than expected.’ because McCabe set the price!

It looks like after they’ve ‘fallen out badly’, McCabe has tried to pull,a fast one by by offering Princey the shares at ‘a low value’, (£5 million) thinking that Princey would be forced to buy the assets for £20 million.

If Princey refused then McCabe would get full ownership back fat a ‘knock down’ £5 million after Princey paid £10 million back in L1.

I guess it looked a win-win situation for McCabe/his advisors until Princey pulled a fast one by transferring 80% of his shareholding to a new company , thus avoiding the option to buy the assets.

Guess that’s what happens when people ‘fall out badly’.

People say the prince is steely eyed businessman. But if that’s true, what the hell is he doing investing in a football club?

To me he seems to be a rich man with an idle interest in sporting vanity projects.

Again, I am forced to say that (to me) that doesn't sound like a bad deal to buy a top 10 Championship club, with one of the best up and coming managers (or management team), and a solid fan base.

Do you think that buying a Championship club and ground/academy and a sports facility for £25m is a bad deal?
Some sort of scam?

Not saying we should be worth the same as other clubs, but as an example

"...On 21 July 2016, it was confirmed that Fosun had bought the English football club Wolverhampton Wanderers from its previous owner Steve Morgan for an estimated £45 million.[9][10]..."

"...On 18 May 2016, it was announced that Recon Group had agreed to buy Aston Villa for a reported £60 million from American businessman Randy Lerner, with the club becoming part of Recon Group's Sports, Leisure and Tourism division. On 14 June 2016, the sale was completed for a reported £76 million after being approved by the Football League.[10] Upon completion of the sale, Xia became chairman of the club.[11][12]..."

We could all start blowing whistles each time the opposition attacks at the Lane?

A bad deal?

I dunno, depends how it pans out in the future for the new owner.
Currently it’s a loss making enterprise that will set the new owner back £10 million a year on top of the £25 million up front.

Do I think it’s ‘a scam’?
No, that’s business sadly.

Yeah..you’d think they’d be que9mg up!
‘They’ aren’t though....I guess as I’ve just posted above it’s not just the upfront costs, it’s the yearly losses....I dunno why people are not queuing up to buy us if it’s a great deal.

Yeah I don't know mate. For whatever reason, the Billionaires and consortium's don't seem interested in us, or if they do, we don't get to hear about it and something puts them off!

This is what we were up against, when it comes to financial muscle, the people who own Wolves.......

"...From 2010 through 2015, Fosun spent billions buying foreign firms in the healthcare, tourism, fashion, and banking industries in the US and Europe. These included France's Club Med, Britain's Thomas Cook Group, Canada's Cirque du Soleil, American clothing label St John, and Greek jeweler Folli Follie.[3][4] At the end of 2014 Fosun acquired the US insurer Meadowbrook for around $433 million, marking the first full purchase of a US insurer by a Chinese company.[5] Fosun also purchased Australian oil company Roc Oil, its first acquisition in the petroleum industry.[6]..."
