Sounds a bit like the confidence of our Brexit negotiations. Still going in with a shit hand

Chapman is an attacking midfielder/winger/striker, Lenihan a Defender/Defensive Midfielder.

Why would them signing an attacking player allow us to sign one of their best defensive players?

Apparently he's an orthodox 4-4-2 winger according to the Junior Computer Manager cognoscenti.

Someone better tell him...

It depends on how badly they want El Chappo

Your theory may have been plausible if Utd had indeed expressed an interest in taking Chapman back. However, I suspect that, as with Riley, he wouldn't feature regularly for Utd next season and therefore there'd be no benefit to him or M'boro for him to come back to Utd (apart from Utd picking up a chunk of his wages). As he missed most of last season, another go at L1 will probably do him good.

Honestly that made me laugh.

Negotiation is all about the cards you hold or perceive to hold. Chapman is not our player so we hold absolutely jack.

Oh aye, cos it definitely works like that :D
More like Rovers get Chapman and then tell us to fuck off about their centre half anyway.

Must admit to admiring the commercial qualities of the two previous posters.

Obviously if we were the only Championship club in for Chapman then Blackburn would stand a much lesser chance of acquiring his services.

I think there's some merit in Bertie's think myself...

Chapman can and did play in almost all the attacking positions whilst with us. Personally I would give Chapman the freedom of the pitch and let him go where he wants like Duffy.

Could it just be that this is his loan move to League 1 which didn't really happen last year due to injuries?

Boro and Chapman probably chose guaranteed first team football over being a Championship squad player somewhere.

Surprised Boro didn't just keep him to use themselves, especially as they failed to sign Thomas. Of the two, I'd rather have had Chapman.

Sneaky!

Wonder if he might be worth another look now Brooks has been and gone. Got a hat-trick for us in the cup, definitely would add something.

I see Blackburn linked with him and Adam Armstrong. I’d be happy with those two, Gallagher and a centre half.

I certainly wouldn’t. Not at the level we need (Chapman) that is. And I’m hoping/expecting better than Armstrong.

Couldn't get a consistent run in the team when we were in League One
He'll be fairly cheap though, and let's face it, cheap is better than talented but expensive

He's more of a winger. We don't play with wingers. We already have a winger who has barely touched the pitch because we don't play with wingers.

Visual representation of Chapman sat next to Ricky Holmes on the bench...

He played as a second striker for us a few times didn't he? Or am I remembering it incorrectly

Sometimes. For me, he was Duffy's deputy and covered the positions Duffy would take up during games.
