Well done England ...

Having spent a lot of time living in both France and Spain, I can safely say that those two nations have far more extreme and negative views surrounding foreign people and immigrants than people back home, France in particular with it being just as diverse as England but with such a horrendous lack of integration. So it saddens me to see that England tends to get labelled racist and bigoted by so many from within and outside the UK, as I don't find that representative of the nation as a whole and seems hugely unfair. In reality, Neo-Nazi/extreme right wing types make up a tiny percentage of our population, and absolutely do not represent this current team of players from a wide variety of backgrounds which make them quintessentially English in the 21st century. I'm certainly no nationalist or patriot, very much opposed to Brexit (only bringing this up as it was mentioned in earlier posts), but delighted to see this team surpass all expectations and bring joy to people after so many miserable years on the international stage, led by an absolute gentleman in Gareth Southgate.

When these things crop up it always reminds me of the Slovakian girl I worked with until recently.

The day after the EU referendum and all the OTT racism has won stuff started, someone at work asked her if she was worried about people's reaction towards her. She laughed and said England was the most tolerant place she'd experienced, and said we should try parts of her homeland if you wanted to see racism.

Nasty little country we truly aren't compared to many, especially in Europe.

Have you been to the UK since xenophobia and race hate became respectable in 2016?

Once in Alicante I wandered into a local bar, having passed a large queue of what looked to be North African men waiting to enter a building. Chatting to the hitherto pleasant barman, he commented on how easy it would be for a passing vehicle to machine gun them all, and lamented that fact that nobody had taken the opportunity. We aren't the only country with thundercunts in it.

England have been an example to the world during this World Cup a multi racial and multicultural squad followed by a similar support base that has been cleansed of the few mindless bigots that once followed them around.

I’d have reminded him of southern Spain’s Moorish history and pointed out he could have been distantly related to them.
I’m not a people person.

Tough game tomorrow. England's best strategy is a physical one, get Kane and Rashford up front, go long, get it in the mixer early. Play the percentages.

Beat Croatia and I fancy us against the frogs, apart from that kid from the flash they are made for us. Just get Harry to take a yellow early by giving him a welcome to Bramall Lane tackle.

It is a pisstake/celebration of the original Vindaloo video complete with bare chested fat bloke.

As a card carrying EDL member, Hitler Youth, KKK, Franco Nationalist, NF, BM and one of Moseley's original blackshirts, I found it quite amusing.

BTW, it was filmed in multiracial Hoxton and features people of a darker shade than the normal EDL rally.

Which was a parody of The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' video which in turn was an homage to Massive Attack's 'Unfinished Sympathy'. Nothing new under the sun...

Re post #370 - how can anyone tell that Henderson once said "Yorkshire" ?

Fantastic achievement for a squad of decent footballers and athletes to get this far. Maybe they can go on.

But let’s be perfectly truthful here, the technique, movement and better overall tactical “nous” is showing through here.

Our peers develop footballers from a young age. We still fixate with big, fast, strong.

Will we ever learn ??

Hope I’m wrong.

Our technique is fine in most areas. Shit, we've even got a keeper who can pass these days. Our big problem is in midfield - we essentially don't have one. Henderson is average, and Alli and Lingaard always felt a bit 'squared pegs, round holes' playing in those positions either side. It's a shame Wilshere didn't develop into what he could've been.

I felt the biggest difference, weirdly, was physical. They looked fitter than us, which is bizarre considering they should be knackered. Kane looked fucked after about an hour.
